We care, and we want the team to succeed, and they are better than what they showed in the first half so I think those posts are warranted. The threads are a place for us to vent as much as discuss the game. I'd rather be over critical of the team I care about, than sit back and accept mediocrity and not care about poor results.
I'm usually posting during the games and I don't see the problem with the negative stuff. No matter how we all show it, we're here because we care and probably care more than 99 percent of other alums. The game thread is treated like a chat room. This team and coaching staff is are very frustrating at times and when we're struggling the posts will reflect that.

Every post, whether it is something you put a ton of thought into, or a knee-jerk reaction, is on AZZ. Now, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, the day after that, forever. Published, in public domain, not like chatting with friends with beers at a bar or on a chatroom that is deleted upon completion. That's the key difference. Now I'm not saying that we should only post positive stuff, happy thoughts, smiles and laughs, etc, but keep in mind that a knee jerk reaction post is now out there for all time. It is there for players to see when they get back, there for other fans to see, there for potential recruits to see, and it all reflects upon what us as fans think of the team. Just my $.02.

Understand, but I don't feel these were knee jerk. We all saw the Toledo and VA Tech games. The first half was basically more of the same.

My comments were more geared to a coaching staff, which by my thoughts, should be much further along with fundamentals and game management at this point in their 'regime'.

Kind of like spinning something bad that happened on Christopher every chance you get?

As far as the negative posts go, when you're at the games or somewhere watching the game it's easy to come home after seeing a win or a dominate 2nd half and be glass half full and be upset about seeing negative posts, especially after how encouraging the 2nd half was. But, when you are sitting with one window open on the game and one in the game thread it's easy to vent after seeing what we saw in the first half. I could have kicked my dog or something, but, I didn't think that was right.

This. The penalties in the first half were outrageous I think there were 6 with 3 coming back-to-back-to-back on false starts, a roughing the punter on d keeping an Akron drive alive and several more Akron declined. They just looked undisciplined in the first half, 3 or 4 dropped passes and Schilz just looked "off." The 1st half woes was / is a growing trend, Idaho, Toledo, Va. Tech, and Akron. The last 4 games against D1 opponents the offense simply looked lost the first 30 or so minutes.

In the 1st half of games Bowling green is averaging 3.4 points against FBS competition, that's disturbing.

Credit to the coaching staff for the 2nd half adjustments, that was as dominate a half as I've seen BG play. But, the first half was as bad as I've seen them play.

I thought the same thing when I logged on. This "Sky is falling" BS needs to stop.

BEAT MIAMI
Can't disagree more (except for the Beat Miami). People in game threads treat this like they are sitting at a bar with their buddies or at a game with friends. Nothing posted on here during the 1st half wouldn't have been said by friends sitting together.

The sky was falling in the first half, they were playing one of the worst teams in college football and looked flat out bad. It was reasonable for people to question what was going on and the direction of the offense after what we had seen the previous 5 games. Myself and others posted their reactions on here in real time as we were watching the game because, at least myself and I'm assuming others were watching the game by themselves in front of a computer screen.

It doesn't make people bad fans to wonder WTF was going on with Schilz, the playcalling, and the amount of penalties in the first half. Most of the penalties were dumb ones, false starts, roughing the punter. Those are just mental mistakes and makes a team look like they are unfocused.

The 2nd half was completely different, there was maybe 1 false start and no penalties on the defense that I can remember. This game was very similar to the Toledo game where they seemingly came out flat in the 1st half and turned it on in the 2nd half.

I'm very encouraged by what happened in the 2nd half, mostly by the offense. I think the 2nd half showed how good this defense can be when they aren't constantly forced to get back on the field after multiple 3 and outs and are gassed toward the ends of the half and game. But, like Redwing said, 1 game doesn't fix everything that's wrong. Hopefully they stick with this power running attack and mix in play action and keep throwing to the tightend.
Akron led Tennessee in Knoxville, 23-20, late in the first half a few weeks ago. While the Zips aren't that great, they are far from the cesspool they were the last couple seasons.
