LOL they beat a rival by 25 points at home, when we haven't beaten them at home since I was in high school. They also have not given up more than 12 points per game in over a month and just shut out a conference team on the road. Scoring 35-40 points per game is fun, but when you are giving up 40-45 points per game which is what we are used to, then being fun to watch is a moot point. If you have a suffocating and relentless defense, you are never out of a game. give me a dominant defense every time.

This defense is for real and i don't see any teams remaining scoring very much on us. If we can run the ball with that defense, there is not a team in this conference that can beat us, and yes I am including OU and Kent.

lol. UMass had 118 yards of offense, 33 passing yards, BG forced 4 turnovers and people are upset with the win? They also covered an 18 point spread. Did those of you complaining think it was going to be 70-0?

I think people are having a hard time wrapping their heads around the fact BG is going to win games with good defense, running the ball, and winning field position.

Ohio has beaten the 3 worst teams in the conference by a combined 16 points. BG has won it's last 3 conference games by an average margin of 21 points.

Certainly not complaining about a four game win streak. God knows its been awhile since we've done that and had one of those wins against Miami.

Having said that, I also have been trying to avoid the "orange colored glasses" syndrome. We won four games we should have won and we've done that mostly on the strength of a very good defense...maybe one of the best we've had in a long time.

Still not convinced that offense will step up and make plays when we need it against some of the better teams we have left on the schedule...namely OU and Kent. I hope I am wrong and the offense surprises me. Maybe the defense will be that good and we can win those games with a "manageable offense?"

But, something tells me it will be 3rd and long from our own 30 with 2 minute left and we're down 5...

No matter what, I'll be right there cheering on the Falcons!

The defense is very exciting to watch. Rather than Jacobs, Sharon , Magner and Pope you've got playmakers Jones, Woods, Martin, and Gates to provide the highlights.

I think many of the posters here STILL expect the offenses from the 01-05 seasons to come out here one of these Saturdays. As much as I would like that, we are a team that is going to win it with defense. I want the offense to be better too, but I am thrilled we are 5-3 after a 1-3 start, and the schedule sets up nicely for us to win out if we play great defense every week. Yes sometimes our play calling does suck and it is boring, but I am not going to knock it while we are winning and winning by more than one score I think I should add.

I enjoy the games. The offense is frustrating at times, but when I realize that our defense is shutting down teams I get over it. Think of the NFL. For a while, Pittsburgh and Baltimore fans supported teams with running games and dominant defenses, and those teams were winners.

We've won four straight and with the home stretch in sight, have a chance to win the East, MAC and go to a bowl game and yet people on here bitch when we've won 4 straight??? As someone else pointed out, Ohio's sked hasn't exactly been murderer's row. Neither has Kent's although I think Kent is the most dangerous team left on our slate. They are really playing well.

BG has outscored their last 4 opponents 143-30 and people bitch. Really? The offense had a very poor day, 15 penalties were committed by the team and yet we won by 24 with a shutout on the road.

I cannot wait to get back to the Doyt this Sat and watch this boring team win their 5th straight.

I have. Maybe I need to come back and watch more but the bits and pieces I have seen have been dull as hell. I am planning to go to the Buffalo game so thats a plus.

What constitutes a good team in your mind then? Do you just expect 56-0 blowouts every week? The team has found their identity to be able to win, and that's very exciting and encouraging. If you think the team is dull and boring, then don't watch and quit commenting on a fan board of a team you think is so lame.
