Pick the MAC week 10

I'll get to the standings at some point I'm sure ...

The schedule. This week begins the MAC's wonderful tradition of weeknight games of near empty stands on national TV. It's also our bye week, or as some may say, wife's day / girlfriend's day. Though I've gotten my girlfriend pretty hooked on BG football. About four months ago she probably didn't know what Ay Ziggy Zoomba meant, or that it was anything other than a website where I spend way too much time. Now she can name Chris Jones, Anthon Samuel, Matt Schilz, Shaun Joplin, and BooBoo Gates, and list their numbers. Pretty impressive for a girl who never cared much about football until this year. And I've gotten her to understand the importance of defense, what a sack is, how to draw up a screen play, difference between touchdown touchback and safety, why receivers catch the ball outside of their chest, why you overthrow in the back of the end zone, etc.

Thursday November 1
Eastern Michigan at Ohio, 6:00

Saturday November 3
Miami at Buffalo, noon
Western Michigan at Central Michigan, 1
Akron at Kent State, 2
Massachusetts at Northern Illinois, 3:30

And ... my picks.
Ohio. Thanks that team down south, you've pissed off the Bobcats. Sucks to be EMU.
That team down south. They've realized how good they can be ... when Chris Jones, Dwayne Woods, BooBoo Gates, and company aren't on the other side of their offense.
Central Michigan. Kinda bold pick. I think WMU starts to really tailspin here.
Kent. I'll be interested to see what Akron's offense can do against Kent's D. Akron's D, though ... sucks to be them.
NIU. Bring body bags, please.

Our guys get a much needed week off, and then it's November where championships are won. Time to seal the deal on the MAC East title! GO FALCONS!!

Ohio - Would love to see EMU pull an upset but probably not.
Miami - closer than we think but MU wins.
Central Michigan - This is the game that seals Cubit's fate in Kalamazoo.
Kent State - rivalry game but the Zippies are in a tailspin now.
Northern Illinois - NIU is the real deal...

This being our bye week, one thing is the same as every other week. Nobody can score on the BG Defense.

- Ohio. Slobcats take out some frustration from last week.
- Buffalo. Going against the grain on this one, probably be wrong, but just have a feeling Buffalo is due to get one and the Redskins may be overconfident after knocking off their rival last week.
- Western Michigan. They hung with NIU for awhile last week and have enough firepower to beat CMU. If it turns out to be bad weather that hampers the WMU offense, this may be a very bad pick!
- Kent State. Blowout.
- NIU. Blowout.

A few of these pics are rather easy to make.

Ohio: I almost picked an upset figuring OU would be down on themselves after their loss, but I can't pick them to lose to EMU.
Buffalo: Miami used up their stuff against OU, and they will have a let down this weekend.
Western Michigan: Western is clearly the better team.
Kent State: Again, Kent is clearly the better team.
Northern Illinois: UMASS is going to have a tough time getting a win this year. I think they'll even struggle against Akron.
