How Come...
Re: How Come...
I'll be there also. Enjoying a few beers, a few dunks, alot of missed jumpers, and still wondering how a coach burns his last timeout in a close game before his own player attempts a 1 and 1. I guess I need a game to erase the hideousness on both sidelines last March vs. Central Michigan.

I realize the West isn't as strong as the East in basketball but why is rebuilding at Toledo seem to be such an easier proposition than BG?
Is this why we have to settle for "retread" coaches like Louie Orr? Would Jim Christian have considered the BG job if he hadn't had the opportunity at OU? (Don't get me wrong, I am not a big fan of Christian. I think he simply profited from the great work of Gary Waters at Kent). Just wonder how potential coaches view the BG job...especially among other MAC programs?
Just wondering why other programs propsper in the MAC while we are a perennial middle-of-the-road team at best?
Remember, Kowalski hasn't actually proven much yet that is concrete. The trajectory has been good, but much of what we're reading about TU is still hype.
Orr has recruited shitty guards. Jehvon Clarke is the the first good D1-talent guard he has brought in. JD Tisdale will be the second. Kowalski recruited good guards right off the bat.
Orr's players haven't spent adequate time in the weight room.
Orr has failed to cultivate talent in players like Craig Sealey and Torian Oglesby. We'll see what Kowalski does in this dept.
The only "gamer" that has played for or has been Nate Miller, who was individually responsible for Orr's only successful MAC season. To be fair, Crawford might become that type of player this year. Or not.
When we replace Orr, we'll need to come up with more than some measly $168K/year.

Did Sealey graduate? I thought he had two more years to go.

Nate Miller, Moten, Erik Marschall...these are some of the guys that Orr inherited. I'd build around any one of them over the guys we have here now.

Sealey is a junior this year. He was clearly the most gifted player on our roster, if a bit rough around the edges, and only saw sporadic playing time. With his talent, Sealey should have been part of the rotation in the 2nd half of his freshman year. By the end of last year, his PT was inconsistent, and I put that on Orr.

If his jump shot had some consistency then he'd be enough of an offensive threat to make up for his poor defense. He's obviously quite a talent, but improvement at some point has to come down to a player's responsibility. I'm still hopeful for him..and the club.
Re: How Come...
Well after that explanation as to why Sealey doesn't see more minutes, I'd love to hear why Erger gets minutes at all. His ability to inbound the ball?

Re: How Come...
Sealey shot 45% compared to Erger's 38%. An athletic sophomore might well have an inconsistent jump shot. Fwiw, I recall Sealey hitting numerous 18 footers last year.guest44 wrote:Well after that explanation as to why Sealey doesn't see more minutes, I'd love to hear why Erger gets minutes at all. I think that 18 footer may be sealey's biggest strength.
His jumper is fine. If he got consistent minutes he'd be a fine offensive player. There is no reasonable explanation for orr's playing time decisions. It's always been mind boggling...

I like Sealey's lightning quickness around the basket and on the boards.hammb wrote:BleedOrange wrote:Sealey shot 45% compared to Erger's 38%.
