You can offer your opinion anytime. I didn't say anything about your offering your opinion. But if you want me to make a statement, I will then....
I just think for a senior in high school who has not been in contact with this particular coach - who has a proven track record and has many, many years experience with the recruiting process - and saying he "better get his crap together" takes mucho grande cajones.
This may be a message board but no BG fan should be criticizing a coach when they don't have the facts concerning the situation.

Understood Transfer. I just didn't like the idea of us pulling their offers. If their was something to do with academics or criminal problems then I fully stand behind Joesph. I just hope that was the case, and not thinking oh well hopefully someone better comes along. Hopefully things turn out for the better for BG. GO FALCONS!
defintely, not one person can guide this recruiting effort either. I'm sure this was reviewed by the staff, I just said Joesph because I knew he was in the south doing the recruiting.

Ok I am not a senior in Hs but I will go ahead and criticize coach Joseph based off the FACT that the recruit said it was coach Joseph who pulled the scholarship. If we don't have any right to criticize our coaches then we have no right to criticize this LB who is questioning Joseph. We dont know the full story, but we do have these facts.
1. There is a notation in rivals that we offered this LB.
2. There is a notation in rivals that we pulled said offer.
3. There is a notation that said recruit stated that he and his fellow teammates had contact with coach Joseph.
Based off the quote and the oddity of the situation someone needs to take some blame. Perhaps the sentinel and the blade should get all over this so we can find out the facts. Well I guess if we wanted facts we should just ask the sentinel to look into it.
You have one side of the story from an 18 year-old kid via a website that often has inaccurate information. Take a deep breath and think a little before you start accusing people of unethical behavior.
(On edit) Right now there isn't anything for the Sentinel or Blade to "look into". Coaches and University personnel are not allowed to comment on a recruit until after signing day. Even then, I doubt you'd get more than a standard response like "sometimes there are communication breakdowns" or something else along those lines

I hope we find a way to figure out what happened here... basically, I hope someone asks the coaches about it during the signing day event, and I hope they can offer a fairly clear answer -- an answer that offers more than your line about communications breakdowns.
As ridiculous as it may seem to have to respond to the accusations of a ticked-off high school kid (his line about Joseph getting in trouble in Colorado is just flat out inaccurate), It is probably in BGSU's interest to clearly make their side of this known when they can.
I think most of us would agree that our coaching staff strikes us as an ethical bunch. It isn't in the program's interest to have rumors floating around among high school kids that suggest otherwise.
For our sake lets hope the newspapers dig a little. ANd they could always call the recruit who can talk all he wants. By calling the recruit now and getting the story it basically demands an eventual response from the coaching staff. Also we should want this cleared up as BG fans. Right now the only public knowledge about the situation is a recruits word.
Who accussed anyone of unethical behavior. I beleive that it was just said based on the facts we know Joseph looks horrible and should try to clear up the situation.
Why should the papers dig in to this. There is no indication of any violations of any rules. This kids comment about Joseph pulling his scholarship is most likely a half truth. Joseph was the guy who got to make the call and say no deal, after the staff decided. Until this kid makes some outrageous accusation, let the situation drop.
What "facts"? You have a statement from the kid. Just because the kid says he was offered, that doesn't make it true. At one point he listed an offer from UCLA. What happened there?
I'm not saying that the kid is lying because I wasn't privy to any of the conversations he had with anyone here, but it's not unusual for a kid to think a school is offering when they are simply discussing the possibility of an offer.
It's also not unusual for a school to string a kid along by hinting that an offer is forthcoming when they're simply waiting to see if other kids they want more sign on.

I just think it would be nice if *someone* -- maybe one of us -- asked the question on Signing Day.
Yeah, unless something like this happens at a big school - and even then I wouldn't be sure - this sort of thing isn't going to get any real attention.

It is a fact that the recruit said he was offered and then it was pulled. That in itself is a fact. The offer may not be a fact, it also may not be a fact that Josep pulled it, however it is a fact that this student said he did. Thats a fact.

Do you know how this works with rivals? Well, I will tell you. Rivals reporters phones the recruits periodically to get status updates. If the recruit says they have an offer, that school is listed. If the recruit states they are being recruited and interested, that school is listed as interested and at what level. Rivals gets this information from the recruits, not the schools. If some school is highly interested and no official offer has been made, some kids take this to mean they have an offer. Not saying that's what happened here, but Rivals is not the gospel on this either.

The sky is orange. The snow on the ground is blue.
It is a fact that I said both of those things. Are you going to go outside and investigate?
