I remember the band sitting at the north end by the players' tunnel but I don't really remember seeing them at the south end by the visitors section. You're right, I probably was out getting you food instead of watching where they sat.

Actually, yes we were. I believe we were there the last year of the blackney era of football. Our team ended up being really bad..(Like two or three wins). I vividly remember sitting there yelling "Run up the middle"... since that was the only play ever called within the red zone.
Later.

Agreed. We were over in that section my first year here in 2000. It really did suck because you were sitting right in front of the visiting team's fans. This really got to be a problem when Marshall came to town that year, because I remember some of their fans holding pennies with tweezers, heating them up with cigarette lighters, and then throwing them at the band....Talk about a class act

Anyway, again, I agree that that season was absolutely Pittiful. We finished 2-9, with our wins coming against the mighty powerhouses of Kent (18-11), and EMU (20-6). It was so bad that year, that we were the team that Buffalo beat to end their 18-game losing streak. After that season, there was very little to look forward to. Jeff

BTW, in regards to the "Run it up the middle comments, read this from the game's final play-by-play breakdown. These two examples are the final two BG drives against Akron on Homecoming 2004. THAT was sad.

Ex. #1

B 1-10 A14 GIBSON, John rush for 2 yards to the AKRON12 (SMITH, Chris,WILLIAMS, J).
B 2-8 A12 HARRIS, Josh rush for 8 yards to the AKRON4, 1ST DOWN BG (HUGHES, Mike,MARCH, Ed).
B 1-G A04 HARRIS, Josh rush for 1 yard to the AKRON3 (LEFALL, Dwayne).
B 2-G A03 SAHM, Andy pass incomplete.
B 3-G A03 GIBSON, John rush for 2 yards to the AKRON1 (RELIFORD, Rich).
B 4-G A01 GIBSON, John rush for no gain to the AKRON1 (RELIFORD, Rich,WILBORN, Derek).

Ex. #2 (The following, and final BG drive)

B 1-G A07 GIBSON, John rush for 6 yards to the AKRON1 (MARCH, Ed).
B 2-G A01 GIBSON, John rush for no gain to the AKRON1 (SMITH, Chris).
B 3-G A01 GIBSON, John rush for no gain to the AKRON1 (GARGASZ, Ryan,MARCH, Ed).
B 4-G A01 Timeout Bowling Green, clock 02:31.
B 4-G A01 GIBSON, John rush for no gain to the AKRON1 (RELIFORD, Rich).

Yeah, that was pretty much the crap that we had to put up with that season.
