Well, that is a good thing. I hope everyone reads this and can see what we are trying to do. The Bleacher Creatures are making a return and they are going to be great. Loud, proud, and rowdy, just like they were. Anyone who wants to talk to us about the Glory Days, see what we are all about, or just say hello, we will always be welcoming, and really hope that others get involved with our cause.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

The student section has a lot to be desired of. To be standing there with their arms crossed and not starting a chant or making any noise during sudden death overtime shows that they do not understand the game. FWIW though, it is better than yelling bull s#%*^ just because there's a penalty on us or starting the c-ya thing when the penalty was actually on us.

Maybe the students should reach out to the staff or players at some point and have a hockey 101 so they get a better understanding of the game.

We want people to go to the games no matter what their understanding of hockey is. It isn't about how much you know about the game of hockey. It's about being there to support your team. As far as "being quiet" during the shootout, maybe you should take a walk over to the student section. We were not quiet. We were loud when we needed to be. Overall tonight, I am proud of our team and our fans, it was a great game and we earned a point in league play.

I want fans in the stands as much as anybody but when the student section is supposed to be the ones trying to get the rest of the arena going and but don't know the game, it makes it tough for fans to follow you. I was not referring to the shootout tonight but the five minute overtime period instead. You have proven my point because i said nothing about the shootout but i did say sudden death overtime which would refer to the five minutes played before the shootout. If i sit directly across from the student section, which i do, i shouldn't have to be in the student section to hear you.

Tonight was far too quiet in the arena for a game that close with that much physicality. Far too much canned music, no goalie chants, just a reactive crowd. I don't necessarily think our issue falls squarely on the students. I think we just have a fan base that's used to a losing product. I think the students have a good start but you've still got work to do to bring magic back to the old girl.

Gotta give credit to the big Hawaiian looking guy. He sat in Section A for the 2nd period. He was loud, creative, and clean. Had the majority of people around him laughing as well. And, seeing how that's the period we scored 2 goals, you could almost say he was effective.

That's who I thought pdt was referring to. And if it was, he is David "Chief" Kekuewa, who really is from Hawaii and he is one of the OL on the football team, and he LOVES hockey!! :supz: First time I saw him at a hockey game, he was down on the glass pounding on it with one of those big foam "#1" hands! Had no clue who he was (Freak clued me in) but thought, "Wow that guy is really getting into the game!!"

Don't try and say I don't know my hockey, you will get burned. I simply assumed you were talking about the shootout, that being the most important part of the entire game.

I saw Chief at the game with one or two other football player. Great to see them there supporting the hockey team! I'm glad to hear from everyone that we have a good start and that we are moving in the right direction, but we want to keep that forward motion and get to the point that everyone can be proud of. We want to hear everyone in the arena being loud and crazy. Any suggestions on how we get the rest of the crowd involved with what the student section has started? At this point, that is our biggest problem.

Maybe a few of you should go to the opposite side of the rink and get the B-G S-U chant going. The students start with B-G and then you get the other side involved with S-U. That would be a start and if you're in your "creature" gear the fans will notice. The simple chants will work best to start and then hopefully they'll follow with the rest. Get the chants going while play is going on and not just during breaks when the obnoxious PA music or the band is playing. The simple chants work best at that point. B-G S-U or Let's go Falcons! is where I would start.

I am not questioning your knowledge personally so please don't threaten me. It's frustrating when we are trying to build the reputation of the program back up and new fans to the program, not hockey as a whole, are talking about how the students as a whole don't know what's going on and they yell just so they can swear. Take it as constructive criticism.

I don't mean burn literally, it wasn't meant to be a threat. We are going to try and get that going. We are trying to find a dedicated group of students who will sit on the opposite side with us. I really want everyone to get in on the "Who's he? Nobody!" chant. I feel this chant is one of the original chants that has stayed around, and if the entire arena erupted during the announcing of opposing players, that would be awesome. We will get things going, it's just going to take a bit of time. Thanks for the comments though, they are very helpful. If anyone has any more, please feel free to post them.
