Kent vs NIU

Post by kdog27 »

Who do you like?

I want Kent and think Kent is going to win, though obviously both teams have looked really really good the second half of the season.

Depends on NIU s ability to contain the scat back. BG sure could not.

I see this one as being close and high scoring. Hard to say who might have the advantage, but if I had to guess, I would go with Kent, just because of the big play ability of Archer. Should be a great game to watch.

I mainly just hope that a great crowd turns out for the game to make the MAC look good. If I lived a little closer I would head up to watch it just for the sake of being there. It's sure to be an entertaining game especially with Jordan Lynch on the field. I have to think he will be in Heisman talks for next season, even though he would need to set every record known to man to even be a finalist.

Orange Bowl reps will be at the game. If UCLA and Texas both lose this week, the winner of the MAC Championship may receive the at-large bid by getting into the top-16.

That is a crazy thought...the MAC Champ could get an at large in a BCS bowl.

I like NIU by a razor's edge...38-35.

I like NIU as well. Sugar Bowl reps are going to be there too. Lets hope Ford Field is packed.

Here's my take. Both offenses are really good and have conference MVP candidates, Lynch and Archer. Kent definitely has a better defense and I think is all around more talented in the starters but NIU has better depth. I'm going to say a close, close Kent State win with the X factor being Dri Archer. Whatever happens this is going to be one exciting game.

Keep in mind as well, a Kent State win and hopeful BCS berth helps BG out immensely as it "bumps" up all MAC schools one slot for the tie-ins. BG looks more attractive then.

Should we root for Kent simply for the fact that they're ranked higher, and therefore having a better chance at a BCS bowl?

If Kent or NIU goes to a BCS bowl, don't all of the MAC teams get a share of the BCS money?

Yes and yes. All MAC schools split bowl money after expenses, I believe, but could be wrong there. We should be cheering for Kent because they represent the East, which is the way I look at it anyways.
