3 signings announced

No surprises
PG JD Tisdale 6-5 13ppg, 9rpg 5apg as a junior
--Other offers:Stonybrook, Western Michigan
SG Zach Denny 6-2 led the state of Ohio in scoring as a junior, averaging 28.8 points per game
--Other offers:Albany, Cornell, Hofstra, UNC-Greensboro, Northern Kentucky, vermont
PF Garrett Mayleben 6-9 7.6ppg 4.7rpg
--Other offers:Akron, Citadel, Kennesaw St, Kent, Wright St

I am excited about this class. The top two guys seem to fill huge needs and while the third guy seems less appealling he was offered by Akron and Kent, which tells me a lot.

ESPN's take on Tisdale scares me a bit. They like him but say he is a SF.
"Updated 11/27/2012

Strengths:
J.D. is a slashing scorer. He is great in transition and is a good finisher at the rim. He is one of the best young guard prospects to come out of Flint in the last 5 years.
Weaknesses:
He has a thin-ish frame so you can see he has growth potential. He is an OK on the ball defender at this point and will improve with added strength.
Bottom Line:
He has good length and is already good at playing the passing lanes. He is definitely more of a slashing forward than a shooting guard at this point, his first instinct is to get to the basket. Tisdale has a great upside"

Denny's report
"Zach is an undersized 2-guard who can play some point but whose strength is knocking down jumpshots. He's a lights out shooter. Give him one second to get his shot off and it's going down. Especially great in catch-and-shoot situations (probably the best in Ohio). He's competitive and tough and isn't afraid to stick his nose in the paint. If he was 6'4 or 6'5 he'd be a high major player.
Weaknesses:
His lack of size is his major drawback. Also, he's not much of a creator, as such he would do well to improve his handle.
Bottom Line:
Zach has made himself in to a great get for Bowling Green. At the least he'll be a terrific specialist in the MAC."

Well 2 more 6'9" guys who average less than 8ppg in high school, and we can fill a starting lineup of them. We are well on on our way to have the most gigantic end of the bench in MAC history.

Maybelen: According to scouting reports, and the fact that he was recruited early by better programs, is probably not a project-type of player, despite his diminutive stat line.

This looks a very nice MAC recruiting class that Orr has brought in. Now, if only Orr would leave the program, we'd be sitting pretty.

I'll believe it when I see it. 7ppg and 4rpg is what it is. Conference honerable mention is what it is. It's tough to be that tall and put up those numbers. So far, the first guy we recruited like this is yet to see the court.

Count me as somebody who is always weary of guys 6'9+ that cannot put up 10 & 10 in HS. It's HS and the height alone should be giving you 10 & 10 if you've got any skill whatsoever.

That said, I love with the other two guys look to bring to the table (holy s**t an actual shooter!? AND a slashing guard!? Those are only the two biggest weaknesses in this program for the past 10 years). I'm just hopeful that whatever Akron & KSU saw in Mayleben shines through.

And count me as one who feels we'll only see the true potential of these players with a different head coach.

I project denny as a tommy freeman type from a few years ago for OU-deadly from 3pt range if he gets any kind of look, Tisdale is going to be a very good player, just not sure who to compare him to because we certainly have not had anyone like him in the past (maybe a much better Darryl Clements, they have similar frames) and I have not seen Maybelin, just heard he has a lot of potential, GO FALCONS!

If I were coach next year and we still had that one schollie waiting, I would add a pass first Juco PG. There has to be someone out there who can adequately run an offense. Doesn't have to be a great athlete, scorer and nothing more then an adequate defender, but if I want my young guys to develop give me a Juco PG who can lead the offense for 2 years. You won't be tied into him long term if he ends up being over his skis and he is a nice carrot for Tisdale.

I don't know the definition of plagarism but this seems a bit unethical
