Re: Tulane and ECU to Big East
I don't recall ever seeing this much talent in the MAC...maybe 2003, but in 2003 you had three or four good teams. This year we have a half dozen good teams. Is this influx in talent due to our mid week exposure?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Teams also fell off after 2003. Next year should be another good year for the MAC. BG, Ohio, Toledo, NIU should all be very good, again.Flipper wrote:I don't recall ever seeing this much talent in the MAC...maybe 2003, but in 2003 you had three or four good teams. So far the MAC has proven itself to be the most stable conference of the non BCS conferences and perhaps the most stable in the country. There's something to be said for having all the schools geographically close, similarly sized, and with a similar academic focus. The MAC has gotten plenty of exposure, good TV time even if a lot of it is the midweek games that we all love so much, and some good non conference matchups. Frankly I think the best way for the MAC to keep relevant in this world of conference realignment / money grabs is to stick together as is. The only change I could see or would want to see is for the west to add another football only member so both east and west have 6 full time members and 7 football members.

"We Make Sense" should be the MAC's new marketing slogan....

Louisville to the ACC
Re: Tulane and ECU to Big East
Yeah I saw that, it's really unfortunate. Good for Louisville. Unfortunate in that Cincinnati and Louisville have really created a great rivalry. Great fans, great history in that rivalry. They've made two consecutive conference switches together but now that rivalry is done. I was really hoping the ACC would take Connecticut and UC and Louisville would stick together, be that in trying to sustain the Big East or move together to the Big 12. Yet another great rivalry full of great tradition done in by the almighty dollar.Globetrotter wrote:Louisville to the ACC

Absolutely...the MAC is very stable in today's world. I love that...MarkL wrote:So far the MAC has proven itself to be the most stable conference of the non BCS conferences and perhaps the most stable in the country. Everyone, check on any UC fans you know. Tell them to step away from the Roebling bridge.
Re: Tulane and ECU to Big East
Yeah I'm one of them. So is my whole family. Parents both went to UC and both of my sibs and I had UC in our top three for colleges. Turns out we all went elsewhere (UMich / Northwestern Law, BG / Purdue MS, BG) but we are all huge UC fans. Very sad, sad day for Bearcats everywhere. The Louisville rivalry is a great one and to lose that and be stuck in the dying Big East is bad news. I sure hope bringing in Boise State, SDSU, the military academies, and all of C-USA breathes life into the Big East again. Cincinnati will have to be the big dog, er big cat, in the conference now.Falcon137 wrote:Everyone, check on any UC fans you know. Tell them to step away from the Roebling bridge.

If we could get EMU, UMass and Akron to start winning some non-conference games and stop looking pathetic this conference would be looking really good.Flipper wrote:I don't recall ever seeing this much talent in the MAC...maybe 2003, but in 2003 you had three or four good teams. Cincinnati would be better off asking to join the MAC than staying in whatever is left of the Big East.

The MAC would be way better off as well. I know theyjust made a big push for the ACC.Warthog wrote:Cincinnati would be better off asking to join the MAC than staying in whatever is left of the Big East.

UMass to the Big East (where it belongs). UC and Marshall to the MAC.Warthog wrote:Cincinnati would be better off asking to join the MAC than staying in whatever is left of the Big East.
West- CMU, EMU, WMU, Toledo, NIU, Ball State, BGSU
East- Miami, Kent, Ohio, Buffalo, Akron, Cincinnati, Marshall.
That league is as good as the new Big East. Makes to much sense to ever happen.
Re: Tulane and ECU to Big East
And I just don't see Boise St and San Diego St living up to their commitment to play football in the Big East. There is no reason for them to do that now.
