UMass to the Big East (where it belongs). UC and Marshall to the MAC.

West- CMU, EMU, WMU, Toledo, NIU, Ball State, BGSU

East- Miami, Kent, Ohio, Buffalo, Akron, Cincinnati, Marshall.

That league is as good as the new Big East. Makes to much sense to ever happen.
I think Cincinnati would rather be independent. They really wanted to go to the ACC and I think the MAC is too low for them.

If UC went Independent their football program would die.

Never thought UC would end up in the ACC, for some reason I feel like the have a better shot making it into the Big 12. Now with Louisville and ND in the ACC though something may happen. We'll see, just hope UC jumps from the sinking ship that is the Big East

Thats why the MWC seems to want to say at 10 for now, holding those two spots in case Boise or SDSU back out of the Big East

UC is kinda screwed....I could see them lobbying a MAC school or two to join the Big East so they have someone a bit more sensible geographically to play. I don't see them going idependent or re-joining the MAC

Keep the 12 core together + UMass and see how it shakes out. I'd personally like to see Western Kentucky added. Adds another new state, weakens the Sun Belt and doesn't let C-USA grab them.

Look at who the MAC will be competing with.

C-USA - In shambles, only hope is raiding the Sun Belt. Hope to not lose any more schools.Sun Belt - MAC level league, probably lose a few teams. Add FCS schools?
MWC - No Boise, No SDSU. Fresno State and Air Force could be targets for Big East.
Big East - Basically old C-USA. UConn, Cincy, Louisville, USF all want out.

I like where the MAC sits. My guess is there are schools contemplating applying to the MAC simply for the stability.
MTSU and FAU are joining CUSA

I didnt know they were in the MAC. Interesting. I wish it was all done regionally with a focus on balancing the leagues. The entire landscape of college football (and sports in general) would be better if you had 10 regional conferences. Programs like the smaller MAC teams would grow. It will never happen.

I always thought of Louisville and UC as kind of a packaged deal. If they go to the Big 12 who else does the Big 12 add? UC puts them at 11, it seems they don't have interest in BYU. Who else is out there? Tulsa? I like UC and have family and friends who went there, but unless the Big10 steals more schools they are screwed.

Florida State to the Big 12 always seems to be a rumor when this stuff starts up again. With Louisville and ND now in the ACC I find the ACC more likely for UC then the Big 12. I just hope they can find something better

I would take Marshall back, but it is still too soon for people there to admit that leaving the MAC did not turn out well. Perhaps they'll eventually grow tired of playing in a league where the only rivals within 750 miles are Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion and the hypothetical football team at North Carolina-Charlotte. Or maybe not.

If I could draw up the perfect expansion candidate for the MAC, it would be Stony Brook. A flagship-type university, a good fit for both Buffalo and Massachusetts and a school that might actually stick around for a while. Much as the Big Ten has been doing, the MAC should be looking East, not South or West.

I've seen/read rumors that Boise and SDSU are already wanting out. If that happens, the Big East needs to just forget about football and focus on basketball.

If I was those Big East basketball schools I would have already said screw you guys, we are leaving this Conference USA mess, and are taking the Big East name with us to save it. I don't see how the basketball only schools can hang on for much longer

All this realignment is silliness and I can see it backfiring in some schools faces in the near future. I'm so glad the core of the MAC has remained intact and the conference has built a reputation for itself by doing things the right way.

It's not going to stop until there are four sixteen team conferences, consisting of the current or future committed:

Pac 12 (12)
Big 10 (14)
ACC (14)
SEC (12)
Big 12 (10)
Plus ND and BYU

The rest will be in the "mid-majors".

What no one thinks of through this whole mess is the non-revenue sports. What sense does it make to fly women's tennis teams around the country in some of these conference configurations. The conferences should apply to the revenue sports only and the other sports should be in geographically compact regional conferences that facilitate bus travel and game scheduling.

I'm thankful that we are already in such a conference.
