Kind of odd that we'd take TWO kids who have almost identical size at RB.... one WAS rated as a 3 star, but a 4.68 40 for the other isn't all that impressive, IMO... Wonder if one of them will be switched to DB.... :-k

Scout has English listed at 5'6" and 165 lbs. Maybe Orr is looking at him as our next point guard?

That seems to be the size range of most of our RB's.....under 6 ft and under 200 lbs. I wonder why we don't recruit any larger backs

We recruit them, but are having trouble getting them. If you remember, Le'veon Bell of Michigan State (all big 10) was a BG commit and there was another kid from California that was 6'3" and 240 that ended up not qualifying . They are looking for that BIG back but having trouble finding or keeping one. They are also pretty hard to find, especially those that have more speed than a Galapagos tortoise! A few years ago a 6', 190# RB was the norm, and even today, not little.

I watched English's hilight video on youtube...like Pettigrew, he may not be a bruiser, but he runs well between the tackles and looks suprisingly strong for his size. Erique Geiger was a kid with some bulk..but he didn't want to sit. so he xferred out

Harrell report per espn

Harrell grows on you as a running back prospect with his ability to move the chains inside or out. Has every-down potential at the college level. Good overall size; compact, muscular frame built low to the ground aiding his balance. Sturdy back with good feet in the hole. Natural pick and slide runner who reads LB flow well and sees and hits the cutback. Makes quick lateral cuts to avoid and redirect through heavy traffic. Shifty and light/agile on his feet. Will get thin through tight creases and downhill with authority when he needed. Has both wiggle and strength through the hole. Shows he can hit up inside on Iso or power plays and earn the tough yards. Has a sturdy frame and runs through first contact on a regular basis but slips and spins out of tackles more than powers through them. Not a pile pusher. Can take it outside with good edge quickness. Shows the ability to bounce and stretch the ball and has enough speed to turn the corner. Still does not project to be a game-breaker at the next level. Lacks an explosive second gear to exploit the vertical crease in the second level and separate consistently. We question if he has the size and strength to produce as an every-down back. While not dominate in one particular area, Harrell does show he can run inside and out, catch the ball out of backfield and fit into different schemes. Could be falling under the radar on this time and is a back that could see his recruiting stock rise with a big senior season.

We had offered a kid from Columbus, Wm. Houston, whose ONLY offer from us...6' 230 range....supposedly going to Columbus Tech as a walk on. Honestly wonder if these kids are realistic in their approaches to all this.

per the Orlando Sentinel . . .

Orlando Evans running back Brandon English said last month that he was leaning toward committing to Bowling Green and was just waiting for the right time.

On Monday, the time was right. The 5-foot-9, 186-pounder, who rushed for nearly 1,000 yards this season for the 9-3 Trojans, committed to the Falcons, joining former Dr. Phillips receiver Chris Gallon at Bowling Green.

"They were showing a lot of love," English said. "The running backs coach flew out to see me and they called me every day and they'd write to me on Facebook every day. They were showing me that they really wanted me to come to their school and play football."

"Now that I’ve committed, I just want to make sure I’m ready for college football. I want to get bigger and train hard."

English said he will not visit the school until either next month or in January and is trying to scehdule a trip with Dr. Phillips running back Eric Harrell, who English said has also committed to the Falcons. The Sentinel has not yet confirmed Harrell's commitment, but 247sports.com has Harrell having committed on Nov. 16.

"He wanted me to try to get them to schedule my visit for December so me and him could go together," English said. "The head coach [Dave Clawson] is supposed to come down next week. … him and the recruiter Warren Ruggiero [offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach]."

As a senior, English had 975 yards and 18 rushing touchdownds on 155 carries and caught nine passes for another 221 yards and two touchdowns.

That depends...if OSU made him a "preferred walk on" and gave him a guarenteed roster spot, he might view that as the opportunity he needs to earn a full ride down the road. If the kid grew up in scarlet and grey diapers or something and has always dreamed of being a Buckeye...can't fault him for taking his shot at it.

His dad played for OSU...so he's a legacy. And yes, he's a preferred walk on. Hard to go against that kind of history, even with a scholarship offer. Oh and the "Columbus Tech" stuff just sounds petty and jealous to me. Just saying...

Since I had THREE kids who went there, I guess I can call them anything I wish....and it sure as H....isn't going to be >>>THE OSU/// If that's petty and jealous to you, fine. But I don't think I'm the only one on this site who isn't enamored with a school referring to itself in that way. [-X

Ha, I was working for OSU when the dictate came down that we were now "The Ohio State University" ... burn all of your current stationery and change your business cards! Caught a lot of crap at conferences that year about such pretentiousness. I can give so many more examples of Michigan envy it's laughable.

Call them what you like, I'm just saying it sounds petty and jealous; childish, even. I see nothing to be gained by doing it. But if it makes your skin tingle; then, by all means, have at it.

I agree. I never have understood the Napoleon Complex, Little Man Disease, Little Brother Syndrome of hating on Ohio State.
