I saw a funny report. There are a lot of ACC championship tickets on sale at StubHub .... for four bucks. Which is actually less expensive than a tour of the stadium on an empty day.

I just realized something that BG is lacking over the other 6 bowl-eligible teams from the MAC, and that is, a win over a BCS team. All of the other MAC bowl-eligible teams have beaten at least one BCS school: NIU (beat Kansas), Ball State (beat Indiana and USF), Toledo (beat Cincinnati), Kent State (beat Rutgers), Ohio (beat Penn State) and CMU (beat Iowa). That said, we still finished better than OU and CMU in the MAC standings and even beat OU head-to-head, and finished strong winning 6 of our last 7. I think the best lobbying for BG now is going to come down to one thing, our administration. On the last Ask The AD segment, GC was discussing back then how they were in contact with bowls, etc., and it got me thinking, that effort could actually be the determining factor for why we do or don't go bowling at this point. Had a few more teams lost last week, there would be no lobbying needed, BG would have been in by default. But now, with the potential of a few more spots to be filled by Pitt and UConn, we would be without a doubt up against schools like Ohio, CMU, WKU and ULM for one of the last spots. Our fate could actually rely on what they are able to do, or not do for that matter.

Speaking of lobbying, John Wagner posted this on Twitter:

JWagnerBlade ‏@jwagnerblade
Talked to a bowl rep who said a MAJOR bowl-bid factor is an "active" fan base. If #Falcons fans want a bowl bid ... (1 of 2) #BGSU football: Send Tweets & e-mails to bowls. Show them #Falcons are interested. Twitter addresses ... http://bit.ly/V2ZoUr (2 of 2).

I Tweeted at the two bowls I can personally attend and told them I'd love to see the Falcons play in their games.

If you have Twitter I suggest tweeting at them.

Can we come up with a hashtag to all use? #BGSU4Bowl #BGSUShouldBowl ?

Simply put. This is bullshit.
This is exactly what I expected go hear even though I didn't want it at all. So much for the new format by the NCAA. Everything I read about this new format was to not let what UCLA did last year occur again, and here they are going to allow it, again, and at the expense of another team? It's BS. The "new" format wasn't saying GT couldn't go to a bowl game at 6-7, it was saying there was a new pecking order and you will fall into a place in a new pecking order. We should petition the NCAA to follow their own rules for God sake.....what a joke. As mad as I am about this, I get why GT is doing it. They are saying "well, we aren't even supposed to be playing this game, and if we lose, it penalizes us." True, to a point. But if they win, are the going to turn down a the opportunity to play in a BCS bowl (the Orange Bowl)? HELL NO THEY WON'T!

Well, we better hope like hell that either Pitt or UConn loses, or better yet, both. I can't even stomach the idea of being 8-4 and not going bowling with OSU, PSU, UNC and Miami all not eligible or not going to bowls on top of that.

Why the hell did the NCAA even pass the damn rule last summer? Didn't mean a damn thing. What BS:

Per ESPN

Georgia Tech might not win Saturday in the ACC title game against Florida State, but the Yellow Jackets picked up a huge victory Thursday.

The NCAA approved Georgia Tech's bowl waiver, allowing the Yellow Jackets to play in a bowl game even if they lose to FSU and finish 6-7.

Georgia Tech had filed a waiver after the NCAA board of directors passed a rule last summer, prohibiting bowls from picking a 6-7 team over an eligible 6-6 team.

The NCAA's decision to allow a team with a losing record in a bowl means a non-AQ team with a .500 record or better will not get a bowl bid.

Last week, sources told ESPN there were "several conferences" opposed to Georgia Tech receiving the waiver and taking a spot from a .500 or better team, specifically because the NCAA had changed the rule last summer.

Georgia Tech will be one of eight eligible bowl teams from the ACC. The ACC has eight bowl tie-ins, so the Yellow Jackets, even at 6-7, would be guaranteed a bid to an ACC bowl.

The Georgia Tech-Florida State winner will play in the Orange Bowl.

If Georgia Tech loses to FSU, it would mark the second consecutive season a team lost its conference championship game and went to a bowl game with a 6-7 record. Last year it was UCLA, which received an exemption from the NCAA to play in a bowl game despite its losing record. That prompted the NCAA's rule change over the summer.

Ironically, it was a decision by another ACC team that put Georgia Tech in this position. North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Miami finished in a three-way tie for the ACC's Coastal Division title.

However, North Carolina was bowl ineligible because of NCAA sanctions. Last week, Miami took a self-imposed bowl ban because of impending NCAA sanctions, leaving Georgia Tech (6-6) to play in the ACC title game.

Entering this weekend, there are 71 bowl-eligible teams (including Georgia Tech) for 70 bowl spots. The number could increase if UConn (5-6) beats Cincinnati and Pittsburgh (5-6) beats South Florida on Saturday.

If UConn and/or Pitt win, they are guaranteed a bowl affiliated with the Big East, which would in turn keep even more non-AQ schools from getting bowl bids.

I think right now at this point it'd going to come down to one thing, BG or OU. I think the final cut is going to com down to us or them.

Really. So when GT gets their asses kicked by FSU then gets their asses kicked in a bowl game, they will finish the season 6-8, and only 5-8 vs FBS competition. Pure BS.

Its becoming more and more apparent that the haves in NCAA football have no need for BG and OU and LA Lafayette and Middle Tennessee.

Doesn't mean much. But, it's nice to see the MAC commissioner say something about this:

Agreed. It is so disappointing to see something that was just revised this summer - the exact issue - turned down immediately. What's more, if there was a MAC team that face the same situation and asked for this waiver, there's no way in hell it would have been granted and we know it. The answer we would have gotten was "it's clearly stated in the new rules." Such BS.
