A couple of years ago, another Sun Belt squad elected not to take an invite to a particular bowl game that fell during their finals week. Can't remember which school, but I was thinking La. Tech.
They also elected not to give Kim Mulkey (an alum) a five year contract, so she declined the WBB Head Coaching position and went to Baylor instead. Look at how that turned out.

I'm not an expert on Karl Malone, but the few times I've heard him speak, he seems to have a lot of common sense. The ideal situation for any program is to have an alum at the top, someone who wants to be there long term, has the school/program's best interest at heart and isn't in that position to use it as a stepping stone to a bigger job. Unfortunately, that's often hard to find in a non BCS conference school.Globetrotter wrote:Karl Malone wants to take over La Tech athletics.

I don't think the system is flawed because it let NIU you, I think its flawed because of the 2 team limit per conference and the fact that the Big East still has a AQ. The flaw is Wisconsin and Louisville being in and Oklahoma and Georgia being left out. I hope in the new system that comes with the playoff there is no limit on teams from a conference.Globetrotter wrote:Why is the system flawed because it let NIU in? I am confused. I think it's offering a smaller school an opportunity at a great bowl. That's how it's supposed to work.
Should be noted that under the new system that starts with the playoff in 2014 that NIU still would have made one of the six tops bowls being the highest rated champion of the group of five non-AQ conferences
