Yes, we got two rooms for the 27th and 28th. Due to a family event on the 26th, we won't be in DC until Thursday AM. And, of course, I ordered 4 tix thru the BG ticket office.

Cannot wait!!!

I've been holding off on my plane tickets. I can fly from Dayton or Columbus for around $200 if I leave on Christmas.

Anyone think the alumni association or university would put together a charter flight out of Toledo?

Almost certain we are going to make the trip.

Working out the details. We may be staying at one of the military bases nearby if lodging is available.

Looks like 25min metro ride to RFK. For anyone with knowledge of this area how does this sound? I know Alexandria is a cool little area. Any input appreciated!

My son lives in Alexandria with his family...used to own a "row house" that, believe it or not, was 12 feet WIDE. They had a real adventure when they first moved in trying to get larger pieces of furniture thru the doors and into a very narrow sitting room area.
Eventually sold that house and now lives in a 3 story condo, still in Alexandria, but a bit away from the "old town" historic district. If you like history, you'll love Alexandria...wander thru the streets toward evening in old town and you'll see what I mean. Unfortunately, I can't recall the NAMES of specific restaurants etc. or I'd give you that info. too.

Hey MarkL,

We are arriving either Christmas afternoon or Christmas evening. Do you know of any bars / restaurants open on Christmas day? I know my way around DC pretty well, so I could do basically anywhere around the city, Georgetown, Alexandria, etc. But, if there are places around the Renaissance that you know of, that would be even better.

Also, do you know if the Metro is running on Christmas day?

Well, I have yet to spend Christmas day in DC so you're going to beat me to the punch this year! I don't know what is open but I'm sure there will be pubs open in the area. As for Metro, the website says it is Sunday schedule for the day, which pretty much means it is open but not as many runs and no late service.
MarkL has spoken.
You may all now return to your daily lives.

We are also staying there! BGFan has to work on the 26th, so I hope to pick him up when he gets off work and drive most of the way, but will stop and get a hotel for the night. We'll drive to DC in the morning. Doubt if we'll be able to get in the hotel before the game, so will have to check in afterwards. With it being an 8 hour drive (in good weather), we really didn't want to drive the whole way that night. Any suggestions as to where to stop the night of the 26th???
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
