I think the point that people are trying to make is that he should be on the end of the bench but he is playing a significant amount of minutes. And we have too many guys like him doing the same.

I couldn't agree more. I think Luke is a great kid, decent D-1 athlete, works hard, but is probably playing more than should be expected of him at a D-1 school, and that certainly isn't his fault. I am disappointed that he has not improved more over his career, and you can put that blame where you think it belongs.

Erger plays the fewest minutes on the team...

He needs to play less. And that fact that you are talking about is a recent occurrence.

Not being an avid basketball fan, but go to a couple games a year.

FOR GOSH SHAKES, THROUGH A KID UNDER THE BUS.

For 95% of the people that post on this site have never played or even been recruited D1. Do you really think he is not working hard or trying to lose or trying to have a poor night. If he is playing a level above what he is capable of, well that was the coaching staffs desicion when they recruited him. If you were offered a scholarship would turn it down? Didn't think so. For 95% of all student-athletes this is the highest level play they will ever see. I would imagine just like our lifes, there are days we are a little off or times that are stressful or family issues or coach/player conflict. Heck, we know none of that. Is the team under achieving. Maybe? Can we be critical of the team, sure. But, for all of my posts I may be critical of an offense or defense or the team in general, but to single handling through a 21-year old kid under the bus. HAVE AN IDEA. BE PART OF THE SOLUTION NOT THE PROBLEM.

Is he an invisible kid? A ghost? I can't wrap my head around this. Is he a median that you are speaking through?

Statistically..he's our top shooting g/f....he needs to play more. You go ahead and focus your petulance on the kid who plays 10 minutes a night. I'll focus on the guys steering the program into the ditch...

Well.......unfortunately we can't be part of the solution. The solution would involve one of us to be Dr. Mazey so we could fire the Fundraising Clueless Clown. And the other solution, to fire the inept coach we have, won't happen because we have a Fundraising Clueless Clown in charge. He has no idea how to run an athletic department and probably will end up giving Orr an extension after Orr somehow wins 10 games this year. So yes, I WOULD LOVE to be part of the solution. Unfortunately I have to sit back and watch others ruin BGSU sports.

Because I have been the one bashing erger and individual players? It may happen every so often but I have been in your shoes calling this out more often then not.

We've had this conversation before....for some reason James Erger has become the symbol for what is wrong with BGSU basketball. I remain mystified why so many people choose to call this kid out when he plays such a minor role in the program.

There are bigger disappointments...bigger anchors...and other players who have no business suiting up for a D1 program that get less heat.

Flipper, this perception is throughout sports. There is always some player on a team that is playing poorly or below expectations that is the fans' whipping boy and often times it is a role player. Take last year's Detroit Tiger team. The team's message board detested Brandon Inge who played just a few games before being released, then it was Ryan Raburn who was at fault, and then every member of the coaching staff. Gee I wonder how they made it to the World Series with all that bad play and coaching. :P

Typically...the most popular athletes in Detroit are the Lions back-up QB and the Wings back-up goalie.... :)

This one is pretty simple. No one is blaming Erger. Erger is the symbol of what's wrong with this program because the coach sees it fit to play him and he shouldn't be playing. Erger is clearly our worst player and gets minutes over guys who are far better and bring more to the court. He may have ok stats this year but he is awful.

I thought Erger had a nice game today. Played well on the full court pressure and even knocked down a shot or two. Actually added some energy to the game and it was certainly needed after scoring only 17 points in the first half.
Great to see Anthony Stacy at the game! I would guess he scored 17 in the first half himself a few times! ;)
