Whatever. He can say what he wants, because it's NEVER, EVER GOING TO HAPPEN! Once hockey gets back where it belongs (and it IS going to happen), it will be bringing plenty of money into the athletic department. You can bank on that.transfer2BGSU wrote:Where's the popcorn and beer?Globetrotter wrote: As a non hockey fan and a Basketball and Football fan I am nearly to the point that I think they should just disband hockey and put the money toward football and basketball.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

If we were all realistic and looked at our athletic programs from an objective viewpoint, I'm sure we could all agree that most of the men's sports could go away because not really any of them have lived up to almost anyone's expectations over the past decade (save for Urban Meyer BG Football).
With that said, people who make posts like that are uninformed sports fan who are just blindly cheering for the sport they like the best. You have to take it with a grain of salt (and in this case, not even pay attention to it.)

Urban Meyer? He won nothing here....Gregg Brandon did early on....Dave Clawson has football back on track. I think hockey can come back with the right coach, but it isn't going to be a two or three year process due in part to the implosion of the CCHA. I don't follow college hockey as closely as I do the NHL (screw you Fehr and Bettman) but this season seems like a lost year...almost like a holding pattern...before the real work starts again next year.
Here's my prescription for BGSU men's sports...Keep hockey...give Bergeron two more years after this one, work like hell to keep Dave Clawson and fire Louis Orr

Re: Just being an instigator :-)
Sounds like the right plan to me at this point...and keep Eric Nichols as Soccer Coach. Nichols is building the program right and now is in the upper half of the MAC standings. A LONG way from Fred Thompson's 0-19 mark about 5 years ago. UGH that was UGLY. And Coach Schmitz for baseball....dude does a great job with the limited resources at his disposal.Flipper wrote: Here's my prescription for BGSU men's sports...Keep hockey...give Bergeron two more years after this one, work like hell to keep Dave Clawson and fire Louis Orr

Sooooooo.... I would just like to point out that Bowling Green Hockey is not going anywhere. They tried telling it to go away once and the program said, no, screw off, and then proceded to raise a bunch of money to keep the program. President Mazey loves the program, and it is a very popular sport at this school. I would also like to mention the hockey program owns the only National Championship this school has. I don't think Bowling Green football is going to bring one home anytime soon. How about we throw some more money at the hockey program and see what happens. The recruiting staff is doing an amazing job at bringing players in with what money they have. I will just say, all of the sports at Bowling Green are moving in the right direction. The hockey program is here to stay!

Hockey is not the only sport to have a national title....the 1959 football team was recognized as the "small college" National Champions. Given the paucity of hockey programs in 1984...I'd say those achievements are comparable

No...not at all. I'm just saying that the two championships deserve equal respect. I should have worded that better...
