Coaching Carousel: Any Clawson rumors

listened to the UC AD this morn saying they would begin an immediate search . . blah, blah, . . to be done by Committee who has a member who played football at Richmond. Since UC seems to like MAC coaches I'm guessing this guy knows Claw . . . . ???
NOT saying this is going to happen, just saying there is a (possible) connection.
UC has some issues: no current conference affiliation, losing 2 coaches in 4 yrs, the MBB coach is ready to make the next big jump too as he's reportedly not happy with UC support, facility and attendance, etc. (X outdraws UC in MBB).
Time will tell . . .

They are still affiliated with the Big East (or the old Conference USA with the Big East name).

They wanted to be ACC, but they are not ACC material.

Mike Elko?
Martin Bayless?

BG would have to open up the wallet for Studrawa, he makes $500,000 at LSU.

Gus Malzahn was making more as the OC at Auburn and took less money to be the head coach of Arkansas State to gain that head coaching experience. A successful year later even is the head coach of a SEC program making plenty of money. Not saying Studrawa would do what Malzahn did, but if he is looking to be the head coach of a BCS conference team one day he is likely gonna have to win as a head coach at a MAC, Sun Belt, Mountain West, or CUSA school first.

You look at Beckmann - Illinois , doren - NC state, hazel - Purdue - kill - Minnesota . There Is no reason for clawson to consider cincinati because if he wins next year he will get a much better job. Cinci is a stepping stone job just like the Mac and if clawson wins the east he will have his pick of bcs level jobs..

The only job I'm concerned with Coach Clawson is how well the team will be prepared for the bowl game. SJSU is no slouch and has the ability to light it up.

In the event Coach Clawson takes another gig some day, I think DJ Durkin would be a great pick. Azzani as well...I love Coach Stud. The table is set for Coach and the Falcons for a potentially huge year n 2013. Clawson would certainly attract a lot of attention on the national level. But I'll deal with that when the time comes...too busy enjoying the current ride.

If he leaves a team that returns 20 starters to go to Temple I would be shocked. A year from now he could get a much higher profile/paying job.

I did see that, not saying any of it is substantial all speculation but twitter is a very good source for the "rumors" to spread.

I just find it hard for Falcon fans to say that he's locked in here. No MAC coach with success is ever "locked in."

The MAC has always been a stepping stone plateau for coaches.

Agreed. I'm not delusional enough to think we keep Clawson if he becomes hit commodity but hope it isn't to a place like that. Of course I said the same thing when Urban was mentioned in same breath as Utah.

I just don't know but a coach from the East who has only coached as far west as the Smoky Mountains doesn't seem to be a fit but who knows.

Temple makes sense, he's an east coast guy and would get a pay raise.
