Hmmmmm. I'd say a rather awful joke. Transfer, I'd suggest you give up your comedy act, it's bad. A few more years and you might be selling 50/50 tickets with Elsasser.

No jokes here. Sounded like he was going off the deep end. It's a basketball game. That's all.

This past weekend, Akron (cream of the MAC) lost to the same Detroit team we beat.

Also this past weekend, Ohio University (another cream of the MAC school) lost to Winthrop (with a 345 RPI).

crazyfan - as long as they wear the Orange and Brown and have BOWLING GREEN emblazoned upon the front of their uniform, you're darn right I'll defend them. You should too.

I'll check with Elsasser. Maybe he'll agree to sell 50/50 tickets with me at a hockey game. I haven't sold any yet this year (did about three times last year). I have a lunch meeting with Megan G on Wednesday. I'll see if she has any more open spots.

I wouldn't get too fired up about Detroit beating Akron. We have all seen this movie before. Akron competes for titles. BG competes to see Cleveland in March. It's not going off the deep end. It's called being realistic. This athletic department continues to mediocre at everything they do. The talent leaves quick, the others well........

Ohio lost to Winthrop. The MAC sucks this year.

Does anyone actually know approximately how many tickets are left for the MSU game??? I have mine and I am coming and I am not going to start defending or launching into our program as many of us including myself have done in other threads. But if this game isn't close to a sellout, it will be extremely disappointed and embarrassing on various levels. I don't like one bit how it is being played after the students are gone either. I know we don't get much student support as it is, but this is exactly the kind of game we would get more students for, if even only to see MSU. Obviously, the direction of the program plays a big part in the likely disinterest for a game like this too. But I am hoping to see a good crowd.

If I had to guess I'd say that MSU wouldn't have agreed to this game a. on a weekend or b. with students on campus.

Tom Izzo remembers BG and AA and knows what can happen when students are involved in little gymnasiums so you are probably right, Den DAyons.

Not disagreeing with that idea whatsoever, because there is probably some truth to that, but if we're playing a 3-for-1 series against ANYONE, we make damn well sure we play our home game when it's good for us, or screw it, play another "mid-major" in a home-&-home instead. If Michigan State can play UConn in Germany, or Kansas in a dome, or North Carolina on a damn aircraft carrier (last year), they can play at BGSU no matter what damn day of the week or whether students are in classes or not. For God sake we haven't made the NCAA Tournament since 1968 and that win in Anderson Arena was 22 years ago when we actually had a decent team and coach. I hardly think play at BG nowadays strikes fear in any team in the country. Hell, Lake Erie college proved that several weeks ago. This is exactly the kind of game we should have opened the Stroh Center with last year. Instead, we did with a sparse crowd again Howard.

Michigan State would not agree to a game at BGSU if the semester was in session (no students). Kinda cheap that big bad MSU felt they had to dictate the terms of the one true non-conference road game they play every 10 years or so, but that was a sticking point.

Then we say never mind to the three games we said we'd play up there and we look for another series. Christ, Michigan came to BG when the students were there with our series with them when we had a very good team and an NBA player in Keith McLeod. What, did MSU think Luke Kraus was going to starting draining threes and getting the 40 students who normally show up on some kind of a frenzy???

To be fair Izzo takes his team on the road quite a bit. I saw them play here in Charleston at The Citadel when they were ranked #12 in 2009 (game did not sell out).

This year MSU has played at Miami (FL) and last year they played at Eastern Michigan, at Nebraska and at Gonzaga.

Lets not underscore the students here. I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic with 40. But the students have actually been a bright spot this year. And I know for a fact that the average number of students this year has been over 300.

I was actually going to post the same thing. I didn't know what the actual numbers were, but I've been very happy with how many students have turned out so far this season. Especially given the overall quality of the product...even expectations were pretty low.

Hopefully we'll have a bunch of students there tonight as well.
