FWIW, My son who lives in Alexandria, and the "unofficial" host for the rest of his family, is suggesting that LOT EIGHT is the better choice for tailgating, based on the parking for the Pro Soccer games at RFK.... He asked that I get back to him to see what the rest of the AZZ crew is planning...so let me know how you feel ASAP.

Based on D.C. United soccer stadium info RV's are allowed in lot 3 and 7. Lot 3 appears a little closer to the Armory where the other stuff is going on. I havent seen much info on the militarybowl web site about parking/tailgating.

Re: Bowl Game Tailgate
Need some advice. I will be picking up BGFan from work on the 26th at 5pm, hoping on the turnpike and heading to DC. We want to drive as far as possible and spend the night, then have a short trip to DC. Now I'm hearing we might have crappy weather on the trip east, which could slow us down significantly. Any suggestions as to where to stop? I'd like to make reservations instead of taking a chance and not being able to get a room somewhere. Any help would be appreciated!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

FF,
We have a family get together in New London (About an hr west of Akron) that we'll be leaving by 7. We are going to drive at least 4-5 hours and look for a place to crash right off the highway about an 1-2 hours from DC...that way we can get up early on Thur and head straight to the stadium. I want to get into MD and possibly crash in Hagerstown or Frederick, MD. Both look to be within 1-2 hours of DC> I can't imagine there not being places off I70 in that area.
Heck we might pass you on the road a few times...lol.
GO FALCONS!!!!

As of right now we are planning on lot 3. I sent an email to the address listed on the militarybowl website asking what time lots open, cost, and parking info. Havent heard back yet.
We plan to be at RFK Thursday morning.

I don't get you guys we want it to snow as much as possible if your interested in winning the game we need the elements to slow down the sjsu attack and we can pound it and play Defense .... We need to stop thinking about our inconveniences and start thinking about what's best for this team.... No doubt the worse the weather the better!!!!

Excellent.
Still plan for lot 3 unless it changes. Look for white RV with BG/Army flag.

Made reservations for tomorrow night in Frederick, MD. Hoping we can leave early and get there before midnight...Falconfreak90 wrote:FF,

I asked the guy what his area's weather was supposed to be tomorrow night. He said rainy, slushy, so at least we'd be OUT of the heavy snow by the time we get there!

Re: Bowl Game Tailgate
Great tailgate on Thursday for the game. My apologies for those who were looking for us in Lot 3. We were forced to relocate to another lot. We arrived at the lot 3 around 10:55, and a gentleman got out of a cab and tried to collect $50. At first, he didn’t know what to do, and said he was calling his supervisor to see if were allowed to park an RV in the lot. I tried all techniques of negotiation with him and after 20 minutes it proved pointless. I wasn’t sure he even worked for parking, and I asked him for his credentials, since he was sitting in a cab. He got belligerent with me, and finally referred me to his supervisor’s number which was in fact Capitol Parking. After repeated attempts to reach his supervisor, we decided to leave the lot, since we wanted to get things started. We proceeded to Lot 8 on the other side of the stadium, and got a similar response to parking an RV, however they did let us park, but said we had to park at the far side of the lot. It appears the folks contracted to take care of parking were thinking 100K plus fans were coming to the game. What a bunch of morons. The lots were wide open.
I also thought the cost to park an RV was a little excessive ($50), but so it goes for a bowl game. The website stated $40. Our military friends from Virginia who set-up next to us in a bus got chased from various lots, so I think it was more than just an isolated problem. They have attended the Military Bowl every year, and have never even been charged for parking which is one of the reasons they come to the game.
Anyway, great to see everyone that was able to find us. I will be following up with the Military Bowl to let them know how disappointed I was with how they handled parking, even after I had called and verified, emailed the Militarybowl, and did a web-recon of the D.C. United Web site to confirm we were good to go. We also got a courtesy visit following the game to ensure we were leaving the lot. It really makes you appreciate the Doyt even with all the shortcomings we may have.
Also, thanks to all who offered tickets after ours didn't make it down with FalconFanatic due to the weather.
Looking forward to next season.
