Johnson doesn't have the arm and Valdez (if he signs) will be a true freshman. Schilz took a step back this year, no question about it. Don't know how much of that is due to his top WR's graduating, but he did not look comfortable all year..
My thoughts and fears too...

And WTF is a "Belk" exactly?

8 teams. 7 of which had losing records. Without looking it up, 5 or 6 won 3 games or less. Not saying the program isn't in better shape, but this MAC Title talk seems a little early with this QB and a coach who hasn't proven he can win close games.

I agree with The Niz. San Jose state is tough this year and their QB play was just better, no argument. It just blows my mind that we start getting conservative with a 3 point lead and 22 minutes left on the game clock. It was a solid defensive effort though.

With all of our flaws...I think we'll have as good of a chance as anyone in the East. OU had injuries...but they also played some really dumb football towards the end. Who knows what Kent will look like with the coaching change and Miami is Miami...they never seem to be as good as their talent.

We need a QB that can run or atleast be a threat to run. It's what MAC title teams usually always have.

There has to be someone better to play QB for this team. There has to be. And if there isn't, then the staff isn't doing its job recruiting the right people.

In the meantime...

Clawson and staff have another stellar year:

A loss to UT
A loss for the division title to Kent
A loss in the bowl game

This is becoming a pattern.
Pattern? Don't you have to be in position to to win the division over a period of time for it to be a pattern? Don't you have to go to a bowl game every year for losing in a bowl game to be a pattern? The only pattern I see is that each year our record gets better.
Actually, BGWriter missed the true pattern which is:
- No MAC titles
- No wins against a BCS program
- No wins against a top 25 program
- No bowl wins
- NO HOPE

Any time you hold a team to -17 rushing and lose, you have some major problems.

Need to improve red zone efficiency and QB play heading into next season, plain and simple.

We have a really good team coming back next year. Loads of credit to Clawson for building this team up. If the defensive secondary improves, D line picks it right back up, and the offense becomes more explosive then we've got something really special.

The red zone statistic is just an embarrassment. How can a head coach look at that and keep his offensive coordinator? Or if he's calling the plays himself, look in the mirror and think he's doing something right?

That stat, alone, probably accounts for the losses against Kent, Toledo and in the bowl game today. When you don't score touchdowns when you have the chance, you typically lose the game.

This is a coaching problem, folks, pure and simple.

San Jose qb threw for close to 400 yards lets not mistake today's defense with the 85 bears..

Yeah...because I've heard numerous people compare our good to very good MAC level defense with one of the greatest defensive units in NFL history numerous times wihtin this thread....
