I agree with a lot of what you say, UNTIL that last paragraph.
He has "improved"one sport, football, after spending many $$$$$$$$$, and hiring a consultant to find a new coach. He has basically obliterated a half a dozen other sports.
His motto of "eighteen sports, one team" is a complete joke!
Look at Kent as a similar school, that competes at a high level in almost every sport, not just the MAC, but nationally! Fundraiser needs to go, before we hire a new basketball coach, and the date is August 31' 2013!
Luke Kraus' stats are downright embarrassing!
Re: Luke Kraus' stats are downright embarrassing!
Can someone get us a countdown clock for August 31st?
Re: Luke Kraus' stats are downright embarrassing!
Isn't his motto, 18 sports, only 1 wins?
Re: Luke Kraus' stats are downright embarrassing!
Started the game, played 30 minutes, scored zero points, went 0-6 from the floor, had two turnovers, committed two fouls, managed two rebounds, one steal and one assist. Nice stat line from a senior two-guard. What a frickin' joke!
GO BG!!!
Re: Luke Kraus' stats are downright embarrassing!
And let's not forget about the 7 times Cooper and Offelt blew by him that led to an OU basket. That's 14 pts he gave up on D.
Kraus should only see the floor at garbage time. Oh wait, that's the whole game. No wonder why he plays so much.

As far as I'm concerned, the BG way is to play the players that do well. In Kraus's case, he should start on senior day. Orr's way is to play seniors, and hope the underclassmen absorb some skills in practice or sitting on the bench. Then he shrugs his shoulders and wonders why the first year Sophomore players don't have any experience. WTF is Sealy and Clarke doing on the bench and how about playing Lyshe? We have a starting center that averages 3 points a game. The CENTER!!! Our #2 guard, don't call him a shooting guard, because he can't, averages 3.4 points a game and Erger with his 1.9 and 1.009 rebounds per game average more minutes that Lyshe and Spencer's 37 TOTAL minutes of playing time in 22 games.
Okay Louie. Here's the deal. You are fired. Now get someone in here who will start playing underclassmen and bench Kraus and Erger forever and make Black a reserve. You might lose every game with the underclassmen, but at least we won't lose all of next year because we have starters with no experience.

Orr and his staff are totally lost. How did Erger play in 25 games as a freshman, and Sealey hardly got off the bench for 2+ years? We have a 3ppg center, yet have 4 current scholarships being used for the center position. That includes the complete joke of a scholarship pissed away on Rorie.

Orr seems to play seniors in front of everyone else NO MATTER how much better the younger player. Perhaps Orr consciously does this out of philosophy?HoopsFan wrote:.....Orr's way is to play seniors, and hope the underclassmen absorb some skills in practice or sitting on the bench. Here's a prime example: Marc Larson. His senior year, part way through the MAC season, Larson had been playing regularly and the team was heading towards a middle-of-the pack finish. Larson was very ineffective and nobody understood why he played so much. Then, Larson had a season ending injury. At that point, the team got hot, subsequently beat a heavily favored OU team, and went on to win the MAC East.
Does Orr play his seniors blindly, regardless of performance, out of some hokey sense of loyalty or program tenure? Even if it costs his program wins? Does he hold his own philosophy above the results of applying the philosophy?
What Orr and any other coach needs to understand is THIS: Nobody anywhere gives a rats ass about your philosophy. Nobody cares if your philosophy is stick to a motion offense, man-to-man defense, or loyalty to the most tenured players. Programs need to be reasonably competitive, players need to develop, teams need to develop, fans need a reason to attend games, and the program has to matter to the campus community. What's more.....your philosophy might be wrong, or might not be SO pervasively right that you have the liberty to ignore the reality right in front of your face in the name of "conviction". The world doesn't work that way.
