BG vs. UCF!

Post by jg4242 »

I'll be at the Stroh tomorrow night to help cheer on the Falcons! Will you?

UCF (5-8) looks to be a decent team. They've got some height inside with several girls over 6'. They've got a short bench (11 players total). We have no common opponents, but they've played 2 ranked teams this season (both road losses). The most notable win is against Mississippi State in a tournament consolation game. If the team shows up ready to execute, this should be a manageable game for us. What are your thoughts?

BG falls by 3, 59-56. Ouch...not the result we hoped for. BG led 29-23 at the half and was outscored 36-27 in the 2nd half. BG finishes the non conference part of the season with a 9-4 record and opens MAC play against Kent State next Thursday night, 1/10, at the Stroh Center. Kent is off to an awful start at 2-11 but did win their last game againt Bethune-Cookman, 73-55.

Time to go after another MAC East and conference title.

There's that scoreboard they put up that got us....

Falcons blew a 15 point lead to lose this one. We didn't handle the 94 foot pressure very well. It was a physical game and BG used a lot of the shot clock just bringing the ball up. They'd be looking to set the offense with 10-15 seconds left on the shot clock.

After the game, it was nice to se Lo'. She's unemployed at the moment and will be back for the Toledo game.

Wow, bad loss at home. You can't lose games when you're up by 15 in the second half in your own building.

Maybe some of us got a little too eager after beating Dayton.

It's not being overeager. It was a bad matchup for us, and the score doesn't explain how bad the matchup was. UCF played nearly 40 minutes of full court press and BG has been historically bad at breaking the press. Anyone remember the Georgia Tech game? BG didn't even have time to set up plays because most of the shot clot was used coming up the floor. 21 turnovers too, and many of them were committed trying to break the press.

Also, it was a very physical game. Roos said in the presser that the team was unable to replicate the phsyicality and the speed of the UCF players in the practice, and thus they weren't as prepared as they could have been.

I don't think any MAC schools are going to be playing full-court press, so I'm not worried. I think Coach has got them playing much better than they were in the beginning of the year and I think they're ready for MAC play.

Lauren is not playing at the moment. She will be leaving the beginning of February for Australia. I'm not sure what team she is playing for as she couldn't remember when I talked to her after the UCF game.

BG will be fine. It was a difficult match-up for us. The team will be ready for the MAC season. Let's take the season one game at a time. I want to be playing our best basketball in March at MAC Tournament. The MAC is still in all probablilty a 1 bid league.

It all depends on Toledo at this point. As long as they don't go down against anybody besides BG or CMU, they're pretty much a lock for the NCAAs.

Toledo basically running the table and then getting beat in the MAC tournament is our road to 2 bids this season.
