gmartin wrote:Dustin, you have to admit, you were out of control at times. Doing your cut throat gesture to the refs, complaining about the tin soilders, and your attacking letters in the paper only brought more negative attention to yourself. Regardless, if you wrote a letter last year to the President she probably passed it over to the AD because she was stepping down. BG has a new President and she is very nice and understanding. Try writing her a letter. I am pretty confident she will read it and respond back to you.
cut throat? wtf? i never done that, and writing letters to the paper is my right. Freedom of speech. it's complete and utter bulls***! that i was singled out. Seriously I've never done a cut throat taunt to the refs, the worst i've said or done to the refs is saying their blind or they suck at officiating or made signs. Never cut throat taunts.
i wrote a letter to the new president and she passed it to that dumbass Athletic director

The new President took over months after the basketball season. Can't see Dr. Mazey passing along your letter. If so that's wrong. She has replied to every one of my letters. I am glad your enjoying hockey. Hope to see you at the game on Tuesday.

just doing what we all do when you write a letter to the S-T

Some of our fans need to join the rest of us in 2013, charging a few extra bucks for select games considered "premium" against highly known opponents that people really want to see is common place. Hell I'm on the tickets page for hockey right now and hockey does the same thing, and likely has in the past, why is no one complaining about that????? Most everything people complain about when it comes to the Stroh Center, its policies, and its ticket prices is laughable (except for the escalator thing, I agree they should have put one in)

Those are some LOOOOONNNNG stairs! Security was nothing like I was prepared for-no one checked me though I did see a lady open her purse for a security check. Ushers were pleasant and helpful. All in all a good first experience seeing a game there.

Haven't seen any complaints on the UT board about the ushers at Savage this year. Have they gotten better? Or just not worth complaining about anymore?

And since you're retired now, you got your exercise for the month on Sunday 8-)

I never complain about the ushers. Just doing their job. Now that I'm retired all I DO is exercise. They let my BIL sit in a reserved section with a GA ticket this year when he visited so I'm happy. Ushers at Stroh were great.

I realized after I got into the Stroh at the UT game that I had a table knife in my purse that the bag-checkers never caught

In all seriousness, while the Stroh is not the same as Anderson, and while things have changed with the times, it's time to embrace the change. I really like how the Stroh retains the "up front and personal" atmosphere even though we can't go on the court anymore. I got to sit in the front row for the UT game and it really felt like Anderson - not many arenas have that feel. I love sitting down and seeing people walking around the walkway. The bathrooms are great. I've never had a problem with the ushers. The scoreboard is fabulous. Instant replay, stats, intro videos, the sound system - superb.

It's really time to get over the fact that this isn't Anderson. It's also time to get over the ticket prices. I'm glad to pay what I pay for such a quality program year-in and year-out. These ladies excel in the court AND the classroom. I can give a few extra bucks to support them.

+1

I have no problem paying $10-15 for a college game - especially one that I know will be good.

I will say that not being able to go on the court is bothersome though. I know that doesn't happen really anywhere these days, but that was one of the things that made BGSU unique. Now it seems that tradition is being killed off completely, and not just at the Stroh, they don't even let fans on the field at the Doyt for the alma mater/ay-ziggy-zoomba anymore. They say they do, but they don't open the damn gates until after azz is done playing.

Just a mini rant I guess. Pretty much everything else ccollin wrote here is spot on. The Stroh is just a better facility than Anderson in so many ways. It has everything you expect in a modern sports facility, easy access, good viewing lines to the court/field, good sound and video replay, and a really loud atmosphere when it is filled or even semi-filled.

I've been saying for years that people in BG need to quit their bitching about concession and ticket prices. Too many people act as though $10 to see a basketball game, or $15 to see a football game is too much money. Gimme a break. Ccollin and I know each other well, neither one of us is anything close to rich, and you'll never see us complaining about BG ticket prices. People who complain about prices are either extreme misers, or using the ticket prices as a faux reason to not support our teams when they have other underlying reasons for not doing so.
