Re: Football Commit list 2013 16ish verbals
Austin VAldez looks good on film playing against HS players, but DI is a different animal. Upper level DI is monstrous -ask Jordon Lynch, lol. I'll say Valdez runs a 4.7 to 4.9 40yd.
Wondering why he was not first team All-NLL?

I thought this was supposed to be a small class.

I think Stokes et al...leaving may have changed that. They can also massage the numbers a bit with gray shirts.

Re: Football Commit list 2013 25 verbals
scuttlebutt ...
Ronnie Moore, ATH, Sanford Seminole. Moore visited Bowling Green this past weekend, which was his first plane ride. He texted after landing, “I felt like I had no stomach and was deaf.” Moore will spend most of this month’s weekends in Ohio. He will visit Cincinnati this weekend and Akron on Jan. 25, unless another school comes in late.
Kenderson Obas, DT, Dr. Phillips. Obas was with Bowling Green commit and teammate Eric Harrell on a trip to Bowling Green this past weekend. The runner-up in the Sentinel’s Central Florida Defensive Player of the Year talks, could have some other late interest coming in.
Obas told Corey Long of ESPN: “I loved the fact that there were so many Florida players on the team and they all seem like going to Bowling Green was the best choice they made,” Obas said. “So that left me with a real positive feeling.
“And the fact that Eric was going there and he was real excited about me going there helped too.”
Obas, the 20th-ranked player in the Sentinel's 2013 Central Florida Super60, is the third Central Florida player to commit to the Falcons so far in the Falcons' recruiting Class of 2013, joining Harrell and Evans RB Brandon English.
Dr. Phillips is already represented at Bowling Green in former Panthers wide receiver Chris Gallon, a sophomore who led the Falcons in receiving this past season with 54 catches for 720 yards and six touchdowns. There are currently 12 Floridians on the BG roster.
Obas led DP in tackles with 109 and he tied the DP record for sacks in a season with 15, a record that was set by Bradley Moore in 2006.
The season Obas had is even more impressive considering that he was playing his first full season on the defensive line after having played offense most of his career. He was named the Orlando Touchdown Club's 2012 Defensive Player of the Year for his efforts.
Dantwaun O’Neal, WR, DeLand. O’Neal just returned from his second official visit, a trip to Toledo, and said he could be right back to Ohio this coming weekend to see Bowling Green, from which he received a call recently. He also received a call from USF on Sunday, and he said that could be his final official visit on Jan. 25, but his situation seems quite fluid right now. O’Neal has also visited UMass.

Signing day isn't for a few more weeks, players are going to keep their options open before they fully commit, never know what offers might roll their way.Globetrotter wrote:So they didn't sign yet?

Signing day is the 1st WEDNESDAY in February...so, other than the JC transfer and the "possible" SMU kid (who might already be enrolled?), None of these kids have signed with BG...or anyone else for that matter..
Talked with one of the coaches recently and he said they hope to keep these kids, which is all they CAN do at this time....keep communicating with them and hope they stay true to their committments.

Lots of last minute poaching goes on with these recruits, so its not uncommon. A coaching change can even throw a wrench into a kid's plan.Class of 61 wrote:Signing day is the 1st WEDNESDAY in February...so, other than the JC transfer and the "possible" SMU kid (who might already be enrolled?), None of these kids have signed with BG...or anyone else for that matter..

The SMU WR transfer , Gehrig Dieter, is enrolled at BGSU.
What's interesting is he was a verbal to BG at this time last year but switched late to sign with SMU where he played during the '12 season and made some grabs. Now he is where he is supposed to be.

DD,
I know Dieter was offered by us last year, but never got the impression that he'd verballed at any time... at any rate, you're right....he's in the RIGHT place now.

Re: Football Commit list 2013 25 verbals
Noticing that we currently have "5" running backs on our list. Very hard to believe that all "5" will indeed sign? One thing for good competition/depth at a position ---- another thing for a young man's deisre to actually see some playing time. Can't really see all signing and couldn't/wouldn't fault any of these young men for looking elsewhere? Thoughts anyone?

My thoughts are lots of safety's, corner backs and WR's start at RB's.SicSicalum wrote:Noticing that we currently have "5" running backs on our list.
