It's not out of the question that Orr would step down at the end of this year. I'm not saying it will happen, but he may be able to see for himself that he is not the answer. Such a step is not unheard of. #wishfulthinking.

Interesting thread. A couple points.

Has BG ever bought a coach out, with the exception of Coach Brandon? I believe there might have been some external funding for that, too.

As for Coach Orr "killing" BGSU basketball, the last two Dakich seasons were awful. We were 8 and 26 in the MAC those last two years and the crowds had already left. Orr hasn't revived Falcon basketball, but he didn't kill it.

Orr is not going to just resign.

I agree with Freak...I think that there is a better than 50% chance that Orr is going to be back next year.

Hammb raises the real question. Regardless of when Orr leaves, is BG prepared or able to make the financial commitment necessary to having a winning men's basketball program? If it isn't, then it doesn't matter whether Orr leaves or not.

Orr killed it from a "do people give a rats ass perspective." He has no personality, he's a horrendous interview, and has done next to nothing to generate any buzz over his program. He approached the job like he approaches a post game presser. Shrug your shoulders and act as if god takes care of it.

Maybe Orr didn't kill BGSU basketball....Dakich poisoned it and Orr used the wrong antidote. The program may not be dead yet, but it sure doesn't look very healthy and the prognosis for a recovery is not good.

I understand that the aministration may not like the "optics" of buying out a contract when they're making cuts elsewhere....but you have to think the revenue that you could generate from selling more tickets, concessions, parking etc... would make that an easy case to make. He's costing us money by not buying him out.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

1/2 of every dollar that we make over 2012-2013 + his buyout can go to the faculty for all I care.
