2012-2013 stat watch
No More Scott Thomas Watch. Now we can watch the likes of Jordan Crawford, Cam Black and Au'stun Calhoun move up the charts.
SCORING 1000 PT CLUB
We have 39 now in the club
Crawford has 733 and needs just 267 to join the group. Thats an average of 8.6 per game.
If he had just his average from last year he would end up with 1083 passing Dave Esterkamp for 33rd all time.
Calhoun has 853 and needs just 147 to join the group. Thats an average of 4.7 per game.
If he had just his average from last year he would end up with 1275 passing Scott Thomas for 21st all time.
REBOUNDS
Calhoun has 375. If he stuck with his average he would get to 557 and not crack the top 15.
STEALS
Crawford has 129. He needs 14 to crack the top 10. If he stuck with his average he would end with 178, 5th all time.
ASSISTS
Crawford has 334 placing him 8th all time. If he stuck with his average he would end with 482, 4th all time.
BLOCKS
Black has 69 total. He needs just 14 to crack the top ten. With his average he should finish this season 2nd all time in career blocks.
All of these are easily doable as we lose 26 points in scoring. Black might have the toughest route as he will likely share time with Holmes.

Calhoun needs just 14 points to get to 1000. Should get there next game or the next.
Crawford has 145 career steals. That puts him in the top 10 all time passing Joe Moore. With 5 steals he will move to 8th passing Nate Miller and Keith Taylor.
Crawford is currently 8 assists behind Brian Miller for 7th all time.

Calhoun has 1007. If he maintains his average he would end up with 1315. Thats good for 19th all time.
Crawford has 890. If he keeps at his current pace that will put him at 1204 good for 27th all time (assuming Calhoun passes that number).
REBOUNDS
Calhoun has 443. He's on pace to end his career around 579, 21 short of the number needed to crack the top ten.
STEALS
Crawford has 148, tied for 9th with Keith Taylor. If he stuck with his average he would end with 186, 5th all time and just 7 shy of 4th place, 13 shy of 3rd and 15 shy of 2nd. It's not unreasonable with a run in the tourney that he could be second all time in steals at BG.
ASSISTS
Crawford has 373 placing him 7th all time. If he stuck with his average he would end with 451, 4th all time.
BLOCKS
Black has 78 total. He needs just 5 to crack the top ten. With his average he should finish this season with 96, 6th all time in blocks. If he maintained that average next year as well he would finish second all time in blocks.
None of the above are having statistically incredible years that would put them in the all time per year numbers. The exception on the team is newcomer Richaun Holmes. He has 23 already and is on pace for 69 blocks for the year. That would be the best number ever at BG...or since they have been recording it atleast back to 1972. (I am pretty sure Big Nate would be up there). He is on pace to finish his career with 207 blocks. About 50 more then the best ever recorded at BG.

Too bad Calhoun couldn't have made one more free throw tonight...maybe they'll pull it out in OT after blowing a 7 point lead with 42 seconds to go.

Holmes is really good and I hope he sees some more PT. I hope a silver lining of a thinning roster is getting him more PT to block more shots and develop his complete game. His ceiling is really high, he could be scary good for us.

It's reasonable to say that in Holmes we have one of the best shot blockers in the country.
If you have NOT been following BG hoops as long as I have, you cannot know how satisfying a feeling that is.

Math check: if Holmes is a soph on a pace to 88 blocks in one year...how is he going to get 267? 88*3 is 240+24 , that equals 264. Why are you giving him an extra three blocks? I'm as excited about this as anyone...but let's not get overwhelmed to the point that we're fudging numbers

.8 of a block means he got a pretty big piece of the ball....I'll bet they give it to him, especially at home.

Crawford might finish top five in steals and assists and top 25 in scoring. That's a legit career.

And going away #1 all time in Turnovers, I'm betting?Globetrotter wrote:Crawford might finish top five in steals and assists and top 25 in scoring. That's a legit career.
And if he's top 25 in scoring, I bet he's top 10 all time in shots taken.

Where does James Erger and Luke Kraus rank in terms of FG and 3pt. FG %?

Maybe. His career 42% FG% is close to top 25 all timershammb wrote:And going away #1 all time in Turnovers, I'm betting?Globetrotter wrote:Crawford might finish top five in steals and assists and top 25 in scoring. That's a legit career.

McLeod: .426
Komives: .437
Thurmond: .431
Thomas: .423
Larranaga: .420
Montgomery: .418
Gerber: .411
Bianchi: .391
For some reason they don't keep all time turn over numbers but McCleod might have been comparable. He was at 3.1 a game his senior year.
