Mid-Major Tradition
Re: Mid-Major Tradition
For those who wanted a big arena...Gonzaga's new arena seats 6,000.
The only thing that surprised me with the Stroh Center was that there were not a few luxury boxes. More than anything premium seats / boxes is where a lot of money in stadiums / arenas is made.

I'm stunned the Anderson vs. Stroh is even taking place.

Re: Mid-Major Tradition
Stroh 1000% better than Anderson. Just wrong coach in place when it opened.

Was just there a couple weeks ago for the Gonzaga game and sat about five rows from the top. Didn't feel like it at all.
It was pretty easy to pull for them for awhile, the small school in the cool gym, but by halftime of every game I've attended, I've started hating their fans. Very entitled and boo every last whistle. Gets old after awhile. But the building is fun to sit in for a couple hours.
That pretty much sums up my feelings as well. Indianapolis is a very large city, so there are Butler alums all over as well as bandwagon jumpers. Pretty much like anywhere else, when Butler was struggling, Hinkle was empty.

My point on this thread was not to compare Anderson vs Stroh as venues. Nor was it to debate if the Stroh is big enough.
Attending the Butler game at Hinkle made me nostalgic for Anderson and all the great times spent there watching basketball…BG and high school tournaments. Those places had, and have, a great atmosphere for a game. I don’t get that feel at the Stroh.
Would I feel different if this team were a MAC contender again? Would I feel different if I was ever there for a game with a packed house? Would I feel different if the student support was at the same level as when I was an undergrad (1979-1983)? Would I feel different if I were 20 years old? Probably.
Then, I probably would have liked the Beyonce Super Bowl halftime show too.

Ya, let's put the Orr is an awful coach stuff to bed. Let's discuss how pathetic it is to be winless on the road in February.
Re: Mid-Major Tradition
The way I see it, for the next ten years or so our program will remain mediocre and the Stroh will be perfect. It will remain just that: Not much better than this year and not much worse. MEDIOCRE BUT What is not quite understandable is what will the complexion be after the first 10 years? It is well documented a HUGE suitcase of money will be placed at mid-court in the not too distant future. Such is to be immediately injected into BGSU Men's basketball. The Bill Frack gift of 10 million could go along way towards putting BG basketball consistently in the Top 25 for several years. Couldn't it? I mean isn't that his intent? IF this is to occur, most people will be wondering, "Why in the hell did they build it so GD small!!!!" when hundred, if not thousands are unable to attend home games due to sell outs.
