Well here is a topic that comes up in other sports and eventually it will come up here at BG. They say your not supposed to lose your job due to an injury but what will we do when Hammond is capable of playing. I have heard Hammond will be out for two more weeks, meaning he could come back for the last weekend or first weekend of the playoffs. So do you put a cold goalie back in the net, a senior albeit, or if Burke continues his hot play do you keep him goal. Burke has a 1.97 goals-against average and .916 save percentage in 11 games this season, including a 1.32 goals-against average and a .944 save mark in his last three games.
A decision I would not want to make.

Hammond is tracking to come back next weekend. If he's healthy, he will be in goal. We had this discussion earlier in the season too. Burke is doing a phenomenal job but Hammond isn't losing his job.

I'm not so sure..........especially if Burke has another awesome game tonight. I can definitely see coach staying w/the hot hand and "if/then" something goes wrong----go back to Andrew.

Hammond needs to be 100% or he should not be in net. PERIOD. He has a good future in front of him after he leaves here and to risk that is something this coaching staff won't do. When he IS 100%, whether it is next week or the week after, I am sure it won't be an easy decision. Bergeron has always said, outside of injury, the boys earn their ice time in practices the week before their games. If they are playing fairly evenly in practice, I would expect them to start Hammond. Tommy is our future, but Hammond has been our workhorse and being a senior, he's earned the right to play in the end of the season games, including playoffs. I think the coaches appreciate what he's done for Falcon Hockey (not leaving the team like many others when he didn't know what the future held for the program) and the kind of leader he is on this team.

A lot of people here seem to be forgetting that it was FRESHMAN Gary Kruzich and not Wayne Collins who was the winning goalie in the 1984 National Championship.

I've NOT forgotten that Kruzer was a freshman. You misunderstood what I said, but reading back on my post, I can see why you did. I didn't mean they should start him JUST BECAUSE he's a senior; I meant they will probably start him because of the season he's had and the fact that he has been the senior workhorse in net throughout the year. I just want him to get 100% healthy. If Hammond is healthy enough to play, he should be in net. How soon we forget how well he has done this year. Burke gives us a good chance to win, but Hammond if healthy gives us the best chance to win.
