BG/Akron...
Re: BG/Akron...
Akron looked like they were sleep walking through most of the game and still ended up winning by 17.
BG is just horrific offensively.

67-50 Final. Akron hit a ton of FT's down the stretch but BG actually played a good game, for the most part. As 33 will point out, that's 9 straight losses to Akron and 17 of the last 18. Thank God we crush them in football.

Yeah... if Akron were to ever beat us in football, I would never hear the end of it.Falconfreak90 wrote:67-50 Final. When it comes to the game tonight, we just needed more talent on the floor. I thought the defense was pretty good tonight, it just seemed that BG had to work so hard for every score. The refs let Akron do a lot of clutching, grabbing, obstruction but the BG players need to push the issue and be very aggressive in going to the basket. Hitting some shots would be nice too. We got very few second chance points either. I was impressed with Holmes though,,,, he was a defense presence in the game and showed some energy...

So much for my hunch...we don't work enough at creating space and getting separation offensively, so the refs aren't going to call the clutch and grab as much.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Re: BG/Akron...
A very striking difference between Akron and BG was how much time the respective point guards spend pounding the ball on the floor. The ball movement in the Akron offense was terrific. On our end, Crawford spends a very high % of the shot clock dribbling in the front court.
And, after all of this time, and after all of our losses, Jordan Crawford continues to force SO MANY bad shots. After all this time, Crawford still seems like he's more interested in making slick plays than doing the mature types of things that win games.
In the post game, Nick Harney was interviewed. He and the announcer ridiculed BG for trying to match Kraus against him. They also ridiculed to Orr match up as well. I agreed with them.
Kraus, Black, and Orr do not look like they belong on the floor tonight. The Kraus situation alone is enough justification to can Orr. Chauncey Orr, at 6-4, does not have the speed, jumping ability, athleticism to play either the small forward or the big guard. Black's lack of development is extremely disappointing as well. He had no chance of stopping Akron's forwards in post-up situations. Furthermore, he just doesn't have the MENTAL quickness to be effective.
I thought Clarke looked good, if a little out of control. His decisions on ball distribution are sometimes risky, but I believe that his overall decision making is far better than Crawford's.
I believe Holmes set the single-season shot blocking record tonight. He was involved in everything around the basket. His presence was very disruptive to Akron's inside game. It was good to see him get major minutes.

Was Brandon Pardon our last good point guard? Crawford's stat line 3-17; the short man gets beat again.
I'm serously thinking that I'm not going to miss 3 of the 4 seniors on this team and one head coach and 3 assistants. Good riddance to all of them.

Unfortunately Orr and his staff will be here another year. With this piss poor MAC this year, Orr was able to scum enough wins out to save his job. Unfortunately that statue will be back shrugging on the sidelines again next year, digging BG Basketball more into the ground. Plus we have a clueless AD that can't notice that the "direction" of this program is heading into the abyss. And then we hav the Orr supporters looking for a life raft and taking refuge in the fact that we could could get a 4 seed in the MAC tourney. Scum MAC Basketball at its best. All this is why he will be back and also why the future of BG Basketball looks as bleak as I can remember it looking. Nobody really cares anymore. Our attendance shows that.HoopsFan wrote:Was Brandon Pardon our last good point guard? Crawford's stat line 3-17; the short man gets beat again.

Well currently we are the #7 seed, however with UT banned for post season we move into the #6 slot, hosting a home game. If that holds form I can't wait to see the sell out crowd at the Stroh

Next year under Louis Orr. Ha!
Ya know how some jokes are so stupid they're actually funny? Ever read a movie review that was so bad that you wanted to watch the movie out of pure curiosity?
As a BG fan, watching games will be like rubbernecking at the scene of an accident.

With Lou closing in on 100 losses in 6 seasons, I can't wait to see how Lou decides to use his final two scholarships. Will he go after another 6'10'' stiff? Will he dial up his connections in Texas to find another sharp shooter? Will he add another undersized SG? Will he ever address the PG position now that we all see Clarke is not a PG?
Re: BG/Akron...
What do u think the athletic departments got planned for his 100th loss? Halftime ceremony? Banner to hang in the Stroh?guest44 wrote:With Lou closing in on 100 losses in 6 seasons, I can't wait to see how Lou decides to use his final two scholarships. Will he go after another 6'10'' stiff? Personally, I'd like to see them hang a banner. I believe all 50 people in attendance would probably stand and applaud.CrazyFan wrote:What do u think the athletic departments got planned for his 100th loss? Halftime ceremony? 2 scholarships? 4 seniors with Tisdale, Denny, and Maylebleen coming in. Am I missing something?guest44 wrote:With Lou closing in on 100 losses in 6 seasons, I can't wait to see how Lou decides to use his final two scholarships. Will he go after another 6'10'' stiff? Rorie tossed off team. 2 year wasted scholarship on guy nobody else wanted.
