While it would be great to get a home and home with both Michigan and Michigan State, I don't us turning down a home game with either just because its a 2-for-1. I just can't see us saying no to the gate either will bring. I remember reading a S-T article like a month or so ago where Coach was talking about this scheduling those two in the future, and I remember him saying we would schedule them as long as we got a home game. So we may have to deal with 2-for-1's when it comes to those two schools.

If I were CB, I'd rather burn in hell than allow us to get blackmailed into any 2-1 deals with ANYbody. Those type of deals are a one-way ticket to oblivion.

The impression that I get is that we will not enter into any 2 for 1 game contract. I support that 100%. As a long time hockey fan, I am ok with not playing them again if they insist in a 2 for 1. Let them play Bentley and AIC.

Amen to that. Or they can always play with themselves! :butthead:

There are simply not enough Big 10 schools for them to be in that type of bargaining position. Michigan, in particular, has a D1 school almost in their back yard for an easy bus trip weekend. To not schedule us even up is assinine. They, ND, and MSU are treating it as if this is football which couldn't be further from the truth. OSU, on the other hand, has been more than willing to continue even up scheduling. Kudos to them for doing so!

If they want to schedule it like football, then pony up the $$$$ like they do for football.

Is it unreasonable to think they are going to do this? I can see UM and MSU paying guarantees to Niagara, Canisius, RIT, Mercyhurst, etc. to play two games at their place with no games in return. All schools are an easy bus ride away.

Assuming we stay firm with only scheduling home and home, would the other WCHA teams do the same? Would they travel to UM or MSU for a guarantee and no games in return?

I don't care what other schools do, I hope we never accept a 2 for 1 or a 3 for 1 from any team that we were league mates with for years. Go BGSU Hockey!!! Roll Along!!!

Fixed it for you.

The only schools outside the Big Whatevers with enough gall to try scheduling 2 for 1s with us are the schools who created this whole realignment mess to begin with. As much as I dislike the Big Whatevers, I understand why they did what they did. The schools who created the "Regional" League have no excuse. "Likeminded" is a crock of crap, and they know it. They didn't like the WCHA commissioner so they formed their own league without him. They needed another to get an autobid, so they called Miami.

I mean, pony up the $$$$ like they do in football and I'd agree to it. But they'd be crazy to schedule us for a home game at $800K a game.

And as Freddie said a while back; if the Big 6 conference does not like the deal,
they have 6 teams, they can play with themselves. :butthead:

Autobids are determined by having a group of six schools that have been together in conference play for the previous two seasons. Miami's inclusion had no impact on that aspect of the conference - it wasn't until St. Cloud was added that the league was given an autobid in its' first two years of play.

Miami & BG have an agreement in place for some 1-1 home & homes, the first one is set for 2014-2015.

SCSU wasn't considered "likeminded" when the conference was formed. Neither was Western. Western and SCSU were added when the first 6 teams figured out that one of them was going to finish last, and there was no way the last place team was going to get an at-large bid. Having a 5 team conference is pointless. Ask the CHA how that works.
