Wouldn't you know it Owens CC has some players and surprise surprise Bowling Green is not on their list of schools they are considering (atleast according to their yahoo pages)

If this is true to have a former BG staff member UNDER Orr and not be in the mix with these guys that is a HUGE issue and just goes to show the root of the problem. How hard does our current staff recruit? How well do they take advantage of the relationships they've made along the way (which with 2 former NBA players you would think is alot) to get players? How does someone like Clarke who apparently can get quality players to OWENS CC not get promoted on staff under Orr like in MOST college programs!!! I am not sure what way the current staff does thing, but it is certainly not the right way if we want to win
Great point. Those guys both look like top notch recruits. Now I don't know much more about them then stats and who they are being offered by, but why are we not in the mix on these guys?

This could explain it, looks like Kelly is being recruited higher than BG level...

I would still offer. Maybe if we hire the coach we can get him.

Ya know, if you gave our roster to a coach like Steve Hawkins or Keith Dambrot, you'd have a winning team.

Why?

Guys like Clarke and Sealey would have developed and would be playing regular minutes. Same for Henderson. Richaun Holmes would be playing 35 mpg, averaging a double-double, leading the nation in blocks, and be our primary candidate for first team All MAC.

Furthermore, JORDAN CRAWFORD would have developed into a disciplined point guard who makes good decisions with his drives, passes, and shots. Cam Black would developed into a more rugged, physical center.

I don't know if ALL of those things would have come true with one of those other coaches, but I do feel pretty strongly that at least some of them would have.

For all of Orr's faults the single biggest failure is a total inability to actually COACH anybody. We all get pissy at his substitutions and playing time decisions. We all get annoyed by his laid back attitude. Nobody here wants to hear "to god be the glory" again in their lifetimes. But more than any of those things, the biggest failure is that players just don't get any better under Orr. He doesn't push anybody to improve, and the players certainly aren't learning much on their own. Almost across the board during Orr's tenure guys are the same player as seniors as they were when freshmen. One of the few players who had shown steady improvement under Orr (Crawford) has actually taken giant steps BACKWARD this year.

Overall that's what frustrates me more than anything with this coaching staff. I don't even really get all that excited anymore when we have new players like Holmes showing flashes of good play. I know if Orr continues to be the coach what we see today is all we'll likely see in 2-3 years as well.

Supposedly the women have three early signees but I haven't seen anything in the newspapers or on the official site.
Missed this thread the first time. Not sure why the double eye-roll icon bugs me, but it does. Factman, were you accusing the Blade and Jason Knavel's office of not doing their job? I'm pretty sure the Blade had info about all 3 of the women's signees long before signing day.

As for the official site...most schools don't want to do multiple releases if, for example, 2 kids sign their letters of intent on Wednesday & 1 signs on Thursday, so they wait until Thursday. Again, I realize no one gives a sh*t any more, because this post was made three months ago, but my opinion of factman is similar to his opinion of Greg Christopher, & I'm tired of his constant rudeness and decided to stoop to his level.

Came across this on twitter..

Brandon Ramsey
‏@INrecruitguide

"Joe Retic: 6'3 PG, Owens Community College & 2012 Fishers H.S. grad, will be a guest of Bowling Green tonight at their game vs New Orleans."

@INrecruitguide

"Retic has definitely benefited from his time at Owens Community College already. Has a Chicago St offer, hearing from BGSU, IUPUI, and UIC."

Another Owens guy, and he is a PG, could be a good get...says he is a freshman, why are some guys able to leave after their freshman year like holmes and others after their soph like oglesby? Does anyone see this happening, we could use a PG after the departure of Crawford, especially one with a year of college experience under his belt

I believe that if you were a qualifier out of HS you can leave after your freshman year, but if you were a non qualifier you have to get your associate degree to transfer and play at a D-1.. Probably not exactly correct, but something like that.

Transfer......help us out on this.

I think that's correct.....IIRC, we lost out on JUCO Nigel Westbrooks in football last year because he wasn't elegible as a HS graduate and therefore could not sign as a December JUCO....that allowed Nevada to sneak in and flip him in Feb as a graduating JUCO.

Or something like that....
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

If you first enrolled in college prior to August 1, 2012, are now in a two-year school and have never previously attended a four-year school...
If you are now in a two-year school, never previously attended a four-year school, and want to transfer to a four-year school,
we sometimes refer to you as a 2-4 transfer. Here are the rules that generally apply to you.

If you are a qualifier...
At the two-year school, did you:
* Complete at least one semester or quarter as a full-time student? (Summer school does not count.)

* Earn an average of 12-semester or 12-quarter transferable-degree credit hours for each term you attended full-time at the two-year school?**

*Earn a grade-point average (GPA) of 2.000 in those transferable credit hours?

If Yes to all:
You can practice.
You can receive athletically related financial aid.
You can play right away during the first year after you transfer.*+

If No to at least one:
You can practice.
You can receive athletically related financial aid.
You cannot play until you complete one full academic year of residence.*

If you are a nonqualifier...
At the two-year school, did you:

*Complete at least three semesters or four quarters as a full-time student? (Summer school does not count.)

*Graduate from a two-year school? You must earn 25 percent of the credit hours at the two-year school that awards your degree.

*Earn 48-semester or 72-quarter transferable-degree credit hours at the two-year school? If you initially enrolled full time in any college after August 1, 2009, the transfer credits MUST include six-semester or eight-quarter hours of English AND three-semester or four-quarter hours of math.**

*Earn a GPA of 2.000 in those transferable credit hours?

If Yes to all:
You can practice.
You can receive athletically related financial aid.
You can play right away during the first year after you transfer.*+

If No to at least one:
You cannot practice.
You cannot receive athletically related financial aid.
You cannot play until you complete one full academic year of residence.*

Here is an article that coincidently came out today. Retic could be a very nice get. It looks like Iwens has a nice team this year. Being right up the road I hope we are able to get at least one of these guys although it looks like Retic is the only realistic one at this point.
