BG Ohio game at 12 noon
Re: BG Ohio game at 12 noon
On a positive note, the countdown is on for Orr to be fired. Should be 3 weeks or less until we have something positive to talk about.
Re: BG Ohio game at 12 noon
Kent State, EMU, Buffalo and Ball State all won today. Looks like we're going to be playing in the first round.
GO BG!!!
Re: BG Ohio game at 12 noon
Well that's good for all of us counting the days till Orr is gone. Another chance for his team to meltdown at home and not make it to Cleveland.

My guess is that Coach Orr is back next year.guest44 wrote:Well that's good for all of us counting the days till Orr is gone. Another chance for his team to meltdown at home and not make it to Cleveland.
I can't wait for the "no announcement yet" thread on here. As the hours pass on the day after the season ends, people's heads are going to X PLODE!

My head will not explode. I'll complain on here, then just go away like alot of the people who used to sit near me at the Stroh. If BG thinks it makes sense to keep this underachiever of a coach, I can find other basketball to watch. While BG takes on a transfer who averaged .5ppg, Toledo took on a player from the same conference. The freshman of the year in that conference.

I used to love the NBA, The Indians, The Bengals, OSU football, BG basketball and football and enjoyed hockey as a student and when I moved to CBus I started to follow the Blue Jackets.guest44 wrote:My head will not explode. First went BG hockey I moved away and I never really knew what was going on anyway. The in game experience as a student was what was appealling.
Then went the Indians. I realized that if they got a good player they would eventually go to the Yankees, then I realized Boston too. The deck is stacked against them. Not fun. And there are a million games.
I moved to CBus and realized how arrogant OSU fans are. That spoiled rooting for them for me.
I initially started liking the Blue Jackets then realized that hockey is super boring to me.
I liked the NBA and hte Bulls until the decision. The decision made me realize these guys are just a bunch of me first idiots with narcisistic traits. Giving them any attention sucked away part of my soul. It's also nearly impossible to win in the NBA unless you luck out and get a super star and you are from 1 of 5 cities.
What's left is BG Basketball-Football and the NFL.
The NFL is fascinating in Free Agency, the Draft, Fantasy football and rooting for the Bengals. I would take those 4 things over any other sport if they were individual sports.
BG Football is interesting but I found their style really boring this year and gave up after they lost to Toledo and didn't pay much attention until the end of the year. I doubt that my interest in the team ever goes away.
BG Basketball is usually number 2 for me but I didn't watch for about a month this year and it didn't hurt me in anyway. I am too far away to go to games consistently and they are too awful to draw me from 2 hours away. Another year of this and I will end up just forgetting about them. There are things (like BG hockey) that I want to want to like but just don't really care about when it comes down to it. I can't see a possible scenario where I am paying much attention at all after about 5 games next year. This isn't a threat, I want to want to care, I just probably won't if he is kept. Coach Orr seems like a nice guy. But if my neighbor opened a restaurant and the food wasn't great, no matter if I really wanted him to be successfully, if he doesn't change the quality of the food I am not going to keep going to his restaurant.
Re: BG Ohio game at 12 noon
Agreed with ya Globe. I followed a pretty similar path. I'm a huge baseball fan still, but I grew up a Tigers fan, and they seem to be one of the haves.
The Decision spoiled me on the NBA for the most part. The first NHL lockout spoiled me on hockey, and I've never regained interest in it. Having to pay for BG hockey games made me realize I didn't care for it enough to pay. All of college football has completely spoiled me on that sport, and my interest in BG has waned with all of the weekday games.
The NFL is by far and away the most fascinating and entertaining sports league. I love the Browns more than any of the others. BG basketball is the one BG sport that still keeps me hooked. I'll bitch & moan if they bring Orr back, but I know I'll probably still renew my season tix in the hopes that it's his curtain call.
Oh...and in regards to your restaurant comment, you need to check out 101 Beer Kitchen down there. Fantastic food and good beer selection.

My sports intrests these days...
1. NFL - Far and away the leader...Fantasy Football has taken my interest to new level.
2. College Football - Still enjoy following all levels of the game...espsecially the Falcons/MAC
3. College Basketball - Real close behind Colleeg Football here. March Madness is my favorite time of the year...hands down.
4. Golf - Really enjoy lasy Sunday watching PGA...especially during a major.
5. Baseball - Best sport to see in person in my mind. Can't really watch an entiore game on TV. If Indians are winning my interest level goes way up.
6. Hockey - Only at playoff time.

When we are bad in college football and basketball I find my interests transferring to teams that I think are similar but good. Like OU, Akron, Gonzaga, Boise St, Butler. I can't imagine anything better in sports then if BG made a BCS gme and beat a big school or if they made the sweet sixteen or elite eight in basketball. And those things are absolutely in reach for similar programs.Rollo83 wrote:My sports intrests these days...

I have always said that I will attend an NCAA tournament game when and only when BG is in the dance.Globetrotter wrote:When we are bad in college football and basketball I find my interests transferring to teams that I think are similar but good. I'm starting to worry I'll never get to attend one
Re: BG Ohio game at 12 noon
You know, one thing that wasn't mentioned in this thread...lost among the bitching, the sarcasm, and the overall disillusionment with the program.
The halftime show for the OU game was the best halftime show I've seen at a BG sporting event. For those that weren't in the arena, they brought in a local traveling jump rope team. I think they said the kids varied between 5th-9th grade. They were FANTASTIC.
They also obviously have been reading up on the azz boards, because we didn't have the same intro video as the rest of the season...instead they showed a highlight mashup from this season. It was pretty well done and a nice change of pace from the same intro video we've watched all year.
So kudos to the Stroh Center team/athletic department. Despite the fact that the product on the court is generally subpar (although the home record is pretty good), they still do a good job making me enjoy my time in the Stroh center. The best MAC arena I've been to bar none.

Re: BG Ohio game at 12 noon
We've had that team or a similar one several times over the years and they always get a huge response. I used to jump rope a lot and got pretty good but I wouldn't attempt what the five year olds are doing out there much less the stuff like laying on the floor and "jumping" rope.hammb wrote:You know, one thing that wasn't mentioned in this thread...lost among the bitching, the sarcasm, and the overall disillusionment with the program.

I know...we were just in awe of their skills. Jumping rope with another girl crawling between their legs (who obviously must also be "jumping" rope). It was insane.h2oville rocket wrote:We've had that team or a similar one several times over the years and they always get a huge response. And I was thinking if I just went out and jumped rope without doing ANYTHING for the time that they were I'd be dead tired and probably have screwed up 500 times...

The halftime show was great, great, great. Would watch that anytime.
And I agree...the new intro video is much shorter and more action-oriented.
