All BG High School Finals

Post by Freddie »

How cool is it that BOTH head coaches in last weekend's Ohio High School championship game are BG Falcons!

Shaker Heights (Mike Bartley BGSU/1974) beat defending champion Sylvania Northview (Mike Jones BGSU/2000) 3-1.

AWESOME! Didn't know that Shaker Heights was coached by a former Falcon! :supz:
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Well before your time. Bartley played from 1970-74, and is still #9 on BG all-time scoring list (118-104-222) in 138 games. He had a brief minor league pro career, and has been HC at Shaker Hts for 37 years. In fact, he's the winningest coach in Ohio high school history (640-348-36)...I believe this was his 4th state title.
