Are you suggesting he fire Coach Orr by e-mail or with a phone call?

Well, the possibilities are endless. Email, text, or phone call would all work, although ungracious. He could schedule a meeting for tomorrow at 9am, drive back to BG, and fire him face to face, and then be back in Cleveland by noon for the games. He could have a written letter printed and sent via certified mail. Perhaps his superior could do it. Perhaps his assistant in line could do it. Hell, I could step in and do it, if that's what it takes. With a little creativity and/or effort, he should be able to handle this administrative action expeditiously while attending the women's MAC tournament games in Cleveland. This what we should be able to expect from a six-figure administrator - the ability to get things done in the face of obstacles without resorting to half-assed excuses like, "gee, I couldn't, I was two hours away in Cleveland for the women's games."dforde wrote:Are you suggesting he fire Coach Orr by e-mail or with a phone call?

What, other than pleasing some fans who have legitimate gripes about the program, does firing Orr right now accomplish? I presume the list of candidates has several head or assistant coaches whos teams are currently playing or are preparing for play. Will those coaches really talk about moving on right now? Right now I don't give a damn when he is let go, as long as it happens. Waiting a week or more will not make us a better or worse team. Step off the cliff and enjoy the women's team run.

Firing him now allows us to be first or closer to the front of the line in gauging interest, God forbid one of guys we're interested in actually reciporcates interest and the contract particulars and such can all be worked out by the tome they would be able to join us which in turn gets them on the recruiting/rebuilding road much more quickly as well.
Re: Press Conference today at 2:30
In my opinion, if he is going to be fired, the only way to do it is face to face. An e-mail or text is completely lame and unprofessional. You've all said on here what a good man Louis Orr is. The least he deserves is that he is told this in a face to face meeting.

I also don't think you upset women's run or make news during MAC weekend. Should have done it earlier or now wait until Monday.

Yes you did. You posted this in the "Men's Hoops Forum"gmartin wrote:I never said the press conference was about the men's program. I do like the smoke signal idea. Black smoke Orr still coach. Orange smoke he has been relieved of his duties. I really do hate a lame duck coach but my gut tells me Louie will be back another year.
