Re: Orr to Return
I like by basketball. But I don't like NAIA basketball. It's is essentially NAIA basketball.
Re: Orr to Return
"An athletics department spokesman confirmed Thursday afternoon BGSU would honor the final year of Orr’s contract."
That wording sounds like they are going to let the contract run out. No extensions barring a miraculous 2013-14 season. I can't think of another case of this happening recently in any major sport.

Spring game is in less than a month.
Saw a picture of BG football practicing in snow, that was cool.
I'm done with BG basketball.

It is exactly what happened with Dakich.MarkL wrote:"An athletics department spokesman confirmed Thursday afternoon BGSU would honor the final year of Orr’s contract."

Didn't Dakich atleast have a decent year before he was let go? Did he really go 1 out of 6 winning seasons.
Re: Orr to Return
This is an absolutely HORRIBLE decision. If we don't have the money to buy out his deal then why in the hell is the football team playing two BCS opponents each season for glorified pay days? I don't know if I'll be more happy to see Louis go or Mr. Christopher's deal expire in August.
And by the way, this isn't NAIA ball either, they have MUCH better athletes outside of Holmes than we do.

I feel the worst for Holmes, Sealey and Clarke who really could have been decent basketball players.

If Kraus is gonna shoot nine 3's in a MAC Tournament game. Denny should/will have to shoot 40 threes a night for us next year.
Re: Orr to Return
Just read the stories below and you have your answer on why they are keeping Orrfor another year. Dr. Mazey is in her second year and would be crucified if she now fires Orr and his assistants and eats their salary after the tough choices she had to make with the faculty. That could total as much as $400k or more?
So maybe we are too hard on Christopher here and the edict is coming from the president? Unless we find a donor willing to step up and write that check for the athletic department.

Re: Orr to Return
I was informed the announcement was supposed to be made immediately after the Women's game. Not sure why it took a few more hours.
Just sent GC and Mazey an email. Talked with my parents beforehand. We are pulling the funding we give each year for athletic scholorships. Also not renewing our Anderson Club membership. Will still support women's basketball, hockey, football, volleyball and softball, but can no longer support basketball until a new change is made. I personally know 11 big donors whom are very upset about this news.

I know we don't always see eye to eye. But I for one want to thank you for doing this. I have no idea what they could be thinking. It will end up costing them way more than 175Kgmartin wrote:I was informed the announcement was supposed to be made immediately after the Women's game. Not sure why it took a few more hours.
