The MAC Tournament - where BG goes to die

Post by BGSU33 »

We all know the MAC Tournament is impossible for BG to win. One being the simple fact that BG has NEVER won the tournament in its existence. Not not with #1 seeds, not when hosting the Championship game and losing to a team we swept in the regular season, not with players who went on to play in the NBA, not with All-Americans, not with MAC Player of the Year selections, not with veterans teams and not even with a coach who would later go on to lead a team to the Final Four. And now - we can't even win a first round home game anymore with a guy who has God on his side. Hell, there's no damn hope anymore.

Why the hell even put us on the bracket anymore. Instead of "BG" as our opponents' foe it should just read "Bye." How bad is it that I am envious of Toledo right now. They did better in the MAC Tournament than BG did and they didn't even play a damn game.

It's enough to make a rational man superstitious.

We have two wins in the tournament since 2006. And just one win since Orr was handed an extension going 1-4 in it since. But the last two losses have been just plain awful. Last year's team was at least decent, and that was a game BG still woulda/coulda/shoulda won. As poor as this year's team was, they actually hosted again and had a good shot at at least advancing past where last year's team couldn't, and even if they lost in the next round, it would have matched BG's best showing in the tournament in the last 12 years! But no, we blew another shot at a win. BG is now 1-8 vs Miami in the MAC Tournament as well. And obviously, the Stroh Center has become a pitstop for lower-seeded teams en route to Cleveland. Good job Falcons.....keep "Rollin' Along!"

Arguably the most exciting time to be a fan of the MAC and we're nowhere to be found in Cleveland yet again. Pisses me off too! How the hell do we ever expect to win a MAC Tournament when we can't even get to Cleveland. At BG, there's no such thing as March Madness, it's March Misery. Congrats to those teams who made it and may the best team win.
