Orr to Return
Re: Orr to Return
The bad news about this program just keep coming and coming. This news means we are now at least three years away from being a factor in the MAC again. One more piss-poor year with Orr, a year to clean up the mess he leaves behind for our next coach, and a year to try and put something together. I wish someone would pay me over a million dollars to do such a bad job! I guess if someone did, I would be saying "To God be the glory" all the time too. What a joke.
GO BG!!!
Re: Orr to Return
Let's go out on a limb and say he makes $225-250k. I think the $175k number might be a bit low. I think if the athletic department would just ask for it, the alums and donors would easily cover the costs. Its not like Greg doesn't have experience doing this very thing at Purdue in the John Purdue Club where they openly passed the hat at local area chapter meetings to buy out coaches.

He gets to use 4 scholarships over the next 2 years. I bet he can't figure out how to use them again and we throw them at guys no one else wants way after the late signing period.BGSU33 wrote:The bad news about this program just keep coming and coming. You know all the MAC East coaches just collectively smiled today hearing this news too. They'll either finish in front of us in the standings again or knock us out of the tournament if they don't.
GO BG!!!

Fact: Orr makes $168K per year.

I wonder what Bill Frack thinks about this decision.

Re: Orr to Return
they though attendance was bad this season? lol
Here is a breakdown of salaries by the way...this move along with this breakdown of salary just shows how little the school cares about basketball..it is either that or complete incompetence

For those with season tickets.....will you renew?

I'll be sending an e-mail to Mazey as well. I'm not a big donor, but I will not be giving my usual $2 grand to the university this year...of which half goes to the sports department and half to academics.gmartin wrote:I was informed the announcement was supposed to be made immediately after the Women's game. Just sent GC and Mazey an email. Talked with my parents beforehand. We are pulling the funding we give each year for athletic scholorships. Also not renewing our Anderson Club membership. Will still support women's basketball, hockey, football, volleyball and softball, but can no longer support basketball until a new change is made. I personally know 11 big donors whom are very upset about this news.
Perhaps if enough people like me pull our donations, they'll get the message.
Re: Orr to Return
At the Q...I don't know how this Miami team beat anybody, let alone us on our home court.

84 people who give similarly have to agree with you to get to 168,000. That's it. Just 84. If someone gives lets say 30k that's just 6 people. What in the world could they be thinkingBGWriter wrote:I'll be sending an e-mail to Mazey as well. Re: Orr to Return
Words cannot to describe my utter shock. Three years ago when I posted for Orr to be fired I knew it was a long shot. Two years ago I thought I had an outside chance. Last year I figured a decent chance; 50-50. This year I was 98% certain he would be. Simply proof that the house always wins.
