Friday's Game
That was a good enviro, but doesn't hold a candle to the UM game. I really wish they would have brought Blake down to the ice and talk to the crowd, just not say "Hey, look up in the press box!"

You're right about bringing Blake and Nellie down to ice level. The sound system is so horrible that Blake and Nellie didn't even know they were being talked about. Believe me, I was sitting directly in front of them! They continued to talk to whomever they were talking to in the pressbox and never even turned towards the ice at that point!
Not very well planned, if you ask me. Someone should've informed them that it was going to happen! Oh well, it was great to see the two of them again!
About the crowd...I was glad to see all of the people, but I was kind of disappointed at points during the game. It seemed kinda quiet in there at points for almost 5000 people! Crowd noise would've been especially helpful during the 2nd period when the Falcons were obviously having a "flat" point and ND scored!
Overall, a great experience. The bobbleheads were very cool and hopefully the crowds will continue to be like this with our last 4 home games!!
GO FALCONS!
GET THE SWEEP TONIGHT!

Nice Win!
Yeah, maybay we should hope the NHL lockout continues to so we can keep Blake at the games. Seems as though the team was finally pumped for once.

You could just tell that our guys were having fun playing. I'm sure it helped to have a good crowd behind you, let's see if they can get the same results tonight.

it was a great crowd but the ice arena is too small. 4,900 people were there and they say it holds 5,000? there were no open seats and a ton of people had to stand in the open end. I know crowds like that are not at every game but i think they should throw up temp. bleachers on top of the stores at the open end. sounds stupid but i think something has to change for these types of games because i think it is crap for people to buy a ticket but not have seat.

Re: Nice Win! ...STUPID COMMENT!!
You really don't get it do you? "Finally pumped for once"???? What a clueless comment. They are rarely NOT pumped. But if you followed this team or even paid attention to the comments made by the veteran posters on this board, you would know that your comment was uncalled for and a real slam to a team and coaches who have worked their butts off, moved up in the standings (we are in 5th place, which is a HOME ICE playoff spot, btw), and are doing the things they need to do to build a championship team and program!! We are getting there, little by little, game by game, it is happening. Your comment had no basis of truth.falconboy wrote:Yeah, maybay we should hope the NHL lockout continues to so we can keep Blake at the games. Seems as though the team was finally pumped for once.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I think it's FANTASTIC that people bought tickets with SRO!!! WOOO-HOOO when was the last time we had people 4 and 5 deep around the glass endzone!! And there WERE seats around the arena, BTW. There are a lot of people who LIKE to stand and watch the games!!goBG wrote:it was a great crowd but the ice arena is too small. 4,900 people were there and they say it holds 5,000? there were no open seats and a ton of people had to stand in the open end. Owwwwww!!!! That's gonna leave a mark....
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Ummmm, why? Do you really think that they could put temporary bleachers above the skate shop and zamboni room and not have their insurance sky rocket? A) You have to climb a ladder just to get up there. B) There is no railing around the edges to speak of. C) The view would suck due to the type of netting that is in place on that end of the ice. I could go on but I hope you get the picture. They may be able to put temporary bleachers on the floor in front of the skate shop, but I'm not sure how the fire marshall would feel about that one.
We come close to a complete sell out and you are absolutely the only one that I've heard complain about seating capacity. Hell, you should have been here before they expanded it from 3000 to 5000. There were lines at the doors that wound all of the way around the arena and then some just to get seats in the general admission sections. If you weren't there early enough, you stood. End of story.
Right now, this is a rare occurance....when it becomes a regular occurance I'm sure that those in charge will do whatever is necessary to accomodate the extra crowd. For now, I'm glad for two things: 1) The university is selling the history of the program! and 2) It appears to be working! Get the people here by whatever means possible and show them how far this team has come in the last few years and hope they come back for more! Personally, I'm not sure why they wouldn't because this is THE HARDEST WORKING TEAM IN THE CCHA!!!! They deserve all of the support that we can give them!
(Hear that falconboy? Do you ever read recaps and game stories to find out what the opposing coaches and players are saying? I suggest you go back in the archives a few weeks and read about the Alaska-Fairbanks series..... Sorry to get off topic but his comments REALLY get on my nerves sometimes.

Knew you guys would "react" to another F-Boy "stupid statement"...Think positive...without his dumb comments, what would we have to react to? We can't ALL agree on everything, so his "dumbness" helps fuel the fires.
