I love this forum! The literalistic responses make me giggle.h2oville rocket wrote:None of these players care what anybody here reccomends but Im hanging around for the Upton/Alb pics!-
Thank you, you're obviously correct H20 - if they read this forum they probably don't give stuff like this a 2nd thought. If anyone reads this thread literally, than you're missing dimension. Also, a kid's academic/life situation MIGHT actually mean transferring is a bad idea. Uh-huh, that's very correct indeed. It's good that someone pointed that out. That would have never ever occurred to me or to them.
All three of these guys are VERY talented, and ALL of them have the potential a) to be All-conference caliber players elsewhere, and b) to have professional basketball careers overseas. All three of these guys have been mis-utilized and under-developed. Craig Sealey's situation is genuinely tragic because he has only 1 year remaining.

+1. You're not selfish. Fans of teams want talented players playing for those teams. Wantonly discarding them goes against every fiber of my being as someone who loves BGSU.BGSUFanatic7 wrote:I am selfish enough. I want them playing for us. This is nonsense.

If either three of these guys were your son you would want them to get the absolute most out of their collegiate eligibility. There is no argument that says that will be the case at BG.mscarn wrote:+1. You're not selfish. Fans of teams want talented players playing for those teams. They will have 2-3 years of academic eligibility no matter where they go. That's more then enough time to complete a degree.
The 2 sophomores are undecided and have likely built enough GEC's to get a degree in 3 years easily.
Sealey is majoring in telecommunications. This area is a bit tougher to find a school that fits exceptionally well but every school has comm.
Re: Dear Jehvon Clarke, Richaun Holmes, and Craig Sealey...
Correct, but they aren't my sons. Sitting out a full year might impair their development worse than staying on a lousey team and having the opportunity to play a lot. We're also both assuming there's this vast resevior of untapped potential within them. I'm reminded of a recent Nick Saban quote where he says that upperclassmen who haven't produced shouldn't assume spots are automatically gifted to them just because others have moved on and it's their turn.Globetrotter wrote:If either three of these guys were your son you would want them to get the absolute most out of their collegiate eligibility. One of the most despicable threads I've ever seen started on here and, thankfully, one in which the players will never see since I'm sure they never look at this site anymore. From a fan base that has spent the past year doing nothing but ripping apart the players who have shed their blood, sweat and tears and proudly worn the school colors and uniform for four years, now you want "what's best" for the players? BS. And everyone can see through it. You want nothing more than to destroy the reputation of a good man.
I'm in support of making a change after next year because it's apparent that the program has gone stagnant. We might as well try something else. That being said, I'm also wary that any coach we bring in will not be able to push the program forward and, the numbers say, is more likely to actually see the program fall further from the top of the MAC as those other Universities continue to fund basketball at a level BGSU has failed to. But I don't see any reason to buy out a coach whose teams have actually outperformed the resources he's been given.

What resources do the other MAC programs have that BG doesn't?

I knew I should have stayed away from this forum
If Grant was still in charge I'd suggest to him shutting this place down for awhile again. If the new guy in charge wants to I wouldn't blame him and wouldn't be upset

Ya know, I hate Louie's style of coaching, his use of personnel, and the marginal players he recruited. I'm pissed at Greg Fundraiser and the handling of the Orr situation, and I am happy to see 3 of the 4 seniors leave.
That being said, I'll probably still be here next year, because I like the above mentioned players and I have held season tix for the last for^h^h^humm well a long time
Dakich II was a nightmare, Dee Knoblauch was worse, yet we survived it and got Orr and Miller. Miller worked, Orr hasn't. In the first 3 years though, Orr was the greatest thing to hit men's basketball since I don't know when. Weinert was a .500 coach, ditto Larranaga, ditto Dakich. And now Orr is going to be a sub .500 coach for his tenure. Hmmm, before it was "Venerable" arena, now, I guess it's lack of money. Isn't it funny, the more money the program gets, the more the university cuts the budget and we end up with the same financial woes. And, of course, the $10 mil endowment is contingent on the donor's death and he's very much alive.
Okay. I'll get over this. From mid-October to the end of March sadness, I follow BG basketball. The good Lord willing, I'll still be here when Louis Orr is gone, Spencer Parker is gone and, if he comes here, Zach Denny. Geeze, I only have 4 more months and Louie is gone. In the grand scheme of things, it's a small price to pay.
And, look at the bright side. Sealey, Holmes, Henderson and Clarke will be expected to start and play because that's the Orr way. They are upperclassmen and have "paid" their dues. Wow, even Spencer Parker should get 15 minutes a game under this system. Then, look out for 2014!

A good AD?

I want and hope all of our players stay. For years we battled with transfers and it was awful. It's one of the few things I am happy to see us improve in recent years.
