One thing is for certain....

Post by Rightupinthere »

Most of you have lost your fu**ing minds.

Let's rehash: Orr isn't fired. Your response:
1) Whine, cry, spill milk, then cry some more. Outside of a two year old finally breaking his/her mother's threshold of pain, I have never witnessed this to work. What sense does this make? You're just becoming fodder for other fan bases who love to witness a good group Drano chug-fest. In other words, you are your own caricature.

2) Recommend students transfer to another school. To what end? For THEIR benefit? What if they don't want to go to another school? What if, like me, they love BGSU and want to get their education here? Further, if Orr isn't renewed next year, what sort of program would you want present to recruit another coach? Surely you're not recommending a destitute environment that no coach would want to go into. Think McFly, think.
3) Withdraw funding from one or all sports. Yeah, see response to #2. Let's hit all the programs with that jerking knee. *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* That will show 'em, eh?

4) Asking Orr to resign for "honor". If I read this board I would stay on just to piss in your Wheaties. I can't get over how arrogant this is to me. You ask a person to resign when you have your own perception and a W-L record. Unless you work for the University or are part of the AD, you really know nothing beyond that.

In other words, your crying, whiney, pathetic, emotionally charged screech-fest does nothing other than to satisfy your will and need to get the poison out of your mind. Do you need a release? Pour yourself a fine 15 year old single-malt and read some Hitchens, Ellis, McCullough, Meacham, Buckley, or Victor Davis Hanson.

I don't spend much time on azz.com any longer. An example of "why" is this board for the last several days. So many of us have taken BGSU sports as a personal reflection on themselves. Those student athletes are part of the BGSU family and, by extension, MY family. I pull for family. PERIOD. I will still root for the team that is on the floor/field/pool/course regardless of the coach, AD, president, or whether or not the faculty is union.
Also part of my family are the students and alumni who have ever called BGSU home. That includes the lot of you. So, as my family, I'm telling you reason and logic do more for this world than does emotion.

I will part with this: honor the origins of this board. If you are ignorant to those origins, maybe you should ask. Cheers.

Lighten up Francis!

This board is just exactly what it supposed to be...a place where those that follow BG sports can go and commiserate, laugh, cry, brag, blow off steam and get out some frustration. Were all fans here…which is short for fanatic. Of course there are going to be moments of hyperbole. Just the nature of the beast. Live with it.

If all you want to read is good news, I suggest you wait for your next issue of the BG alumni magazine.

Telling ME to lighten up. That's rich. I don't want this board to slip more into the insanity and inanity you condone.

And where did I say I needed all good news? Read my posts don't read INTO my posts.

Good day, mittens.

By watching the NCAA Tournament and the caliber of play, especially form the Sweet 16 on, we will see just how far our program needs to go.

Forget the sweet 16. Globe is right, the play in this title game compared to what BG rolls out, is like watching the varsity and JV.

I think keeping Orr this year is unforgivable. Christopher could walk on water and this decision is so awful and so destructive to the program....and so easily solvable.....that it's inconceivable how a sane person could come to the conclusion that bringing back Orr was the right decision. He should have been fired the year going into the Stroh and we should have rode the momentum of the new coach and new arena into legitmacy. Instead we squandered that chance and continue to sink. I am not sure BG has a leader with qualities redeeming enough to admire. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions. Academically and athletically BG doesn't cut it.

So smug. So superior. So nauseatingly elitist.

Please STFU and just go away, okay?

If you don't like what those of us who visit a DISCUSSION BOARD have to say, then post your reasoned and logical responses as to why you think Coach Orr should be kept on -- don't lecture us about what bad human beings we are from your delusional perch above.

Those of us who are taking the slow demise of the school's basketball program to heart are doing so because we actually care; it's important to us, so we tend to get a bit emotional when talking about it.

And yes, we're venting, too.

We have watched as some very good opportunities to create and expand momentum for a multi-million dollar facility have been wasted, while an administration has apparently obsessed over pennies as dollars are flying out the door.

Those of us with a bit of marketing in our background find that just a bit stupefying, when you consider all the money and effort that went into building the Stroh Center and trying to build up student enthusiasm for it and the sports activities it houses.

You believe you're above all this and that we're just a bunch of emotional idiots running around embarrassing BG and ourselves. We get that.

Well guess what: you're wrong. Just as you're probably wrong about a lot of other stuff you've assumed about us.

You don't have the market cornered on caring about BGSU, its students or anyone else associated with the university.

Rightupinthere...like me...has been on this board since it started. In the "good ol days" the discussions seemed less shrill...less knee jerk..less emotive...less stupid.

I don't know...lately this site seems more like bad sports talk radio...the kind of Jim Rome wannabe posturing that makes you change the channel to Little Steven's Underground Garage so you can here the coolest song in the world that week than a group of friends having fun talking sports and breaking balls...or ovaries. (hi Marta)

So...I'm done complaining..you can have it.

1) Go **** yourself sideways, young 'un. I'm not going anywhere and you just firmed my resolve. I was dead right about you because you have zero control over your emotions. Your whiney response perfectly defined you. Just look at your meager post history [one hundred and what?].

I lost faith in Orr after last season much the same way I lost faith in Brandon after the 2005 season. I see a slippery slope for the program similar to what hockey experienced under Paluch [with whom I'm still disappointed]. Fortunately, I don't see the program having as far to rebound as hockey because basketball, as a sport, carries more familiarity for the average student/townie/fan than does hockey. In other words, there are fewer perceptive barriers which may preclude them from attending a game.

I'm not happy about the state of the program after next year but I'm certainly not espousing the moronic notions of damaging the program further [e.g. withholding funds/transferring students].

I leave you with this, puppy. You may wish to temper your vile accusations that I don't love BG sports nor have knowledge of marketing. Both are completely and inexcusably false.

Cheers[/proud elitist].

I'm not the one who came on here and put down the people who were venting about the problems with the basketball program, and presented himself as somehow being superior and above the fray. That was you, PUPPY. [-X

I simply responded to your diatribe and name calling.

Instead of acknowledging that you acted like a total ass and backing off a bit, you doubled down. Well good for you. If you're going to do something, do it well, I always say.

So if you're going to be this board's biggest ASS -- then by all means be the best damn ASS you can.

Congrats.
