I knew the Chipps had a shot at getting the W. They're awfully chippy of course. I would say playing 3 games in 3 days might take a toll on them. We'll see. I'm thinking it will be Akron vs. CMU in the final tomorrow.

My first reaction was joy...but it quickly turned sour as now we'll have to watch them buy another WNIT title.

I will laugh my azz off if Toledo is left out of the NCAA's with 28 wins, a la BGSU in 2009.

Prepare to laugh.

UT will be left out while an undeserving OSU will get in (because they're hosting the 1st and 2nd rounds).

No way Toledo makes the NCAA's. They have only one quality win, over Charlotte.

I'm with you, 24. Even if my gut says Toledo (and Naama) deserve to be in, my heart is still bitter about 2009. And they may be granting me a degree in 6 weeks, but I still can't cheer for UT :P

Also, I agree that OSU will get in before Toledo, even though OSU has been absolutely dismal this year. Simply not fair to mid-majors.

Most of the reaction on rebkell seems to be indecisive. I get the feel that many of the posters there are pulling for UT to get in, but aren't sure if they will make it or not. Will be interesting to see the bracket come out on Monday. Another thing to watch is where Toledo is seeded if they make it.

I think Toledo would probably be an 11 or 12, CMU a 12 or 13 if they win today. Akron would probably be a 14 if they win.

FWIW, Charlie Creme's latest bracketology has Toledo out and Akron a 15 seed playing Penn State. http://espn.go.com/ncw/bracketology

Well, go ahead and rip up that bracket...CMU's going dancing.

Did he really think Akron was going to beat CMU? He must've put Akron in just because they were the lower number seed in the MAC tournament.

EDIT: Ccollin, what is your take as far as whether CMU might be able to win a game or two in the tournament. They have a rather physical style of play that is unlike most MAC squads, which would seem to benefit them in a situation where they'll be facing teams that are generally bigger and stronger than most MAC opposition. To me they'll have to do 2 things well...1.score, and 2.keep their composure. I'm not sure they'll be able to do both.

I think they can do it. They DEFINITELY have a better chance than Akron would have, or even Bowling Green, to be honest.

CMU entered the tournament on a mission. They have a few things going for them: 1. Momentum from the MAC tournament; 2. Size & Physicality - Central has probably the biggest, most physical team in the MAC, and honestly, their bodies are better suited to NCAA competition than most of the MAC teams. 3. Strength of Schedule - they played Saint Joseph's, Green Bay, Notre Dame, Purdue, Florida and Texas this year. Yeah, they lost a lot - but no other team has faced that level of competition. They even beat Green Bay and Saint Joseph's, and their losses to the other teams were not blow-outs. I mean, they only lost to Notre Dame (who will be a number 1 seed in the tournament) by 9 points. 4. Depth - I'm not as sure on this one because I haven't watched their entire season, but they have more than a few players who can score - Bradford, DiGuilio, Baker, Green, Schroll, Bracey. I think that will help them in the long run.

Of course, it depends on who they play. I'll add more when I see the matchup, if it's a team I'm familiar with.

Jessica Schroll injured her right wrist in the last couple of minutes of the game. It appeared they took her right to the locker room, with her holding the wrist...if she is badly injured, that will really hurt the Chips.

And, yes the reason Creme had Akron in was because they were the 3 seed with CMU being the 4 seed...that is the way he has always done it.

All the projections I am seeing are saying no way OSU gets in. Just because they are hosting the first and second rounds doesn't mean they automtically get in unless they are deserving. Which they aren't. Projections have the #1 seed Notre Dame being sent to Columbus for attendance purposes. Just like last year when the committee sent Baylor to BG. UT probably doesn't get in. They are in the same situation we were in 2009. Great record but in a mid-major conference. They would have had a stronger case if they would have lost in the finals. Their strength of schedule is really bad this year. Not all of their fault, as some of the teams they played are most years pretty good, not this year though. I think Charlie Creme of ESPN has Toledo as the 68th team. Not enough spots for them to get in.
