I don't expect him to be a star, but I think he will be one of my favorite players for 4 years.
Re: Hope For The Future
Todd Walker should get the puns ready:
"Denny's IS OPEN ALL NIGHT"
"Maybe he's born with it, maybe it's Mayleben"

I'm by no means a great judge of talent, but here is a 2:00 min clip from what I assume is an AAU Tourney Zach was in last May.
In these clips he certainly does have a nice looking shot.

We are in need of a pure shooter and I agree that this kid could be fun to watch for the next 4 years! I hope he can make an immediate impact!

Re: Hope For The Future
Denny was named to the D-2 All Ohio 2nd team...with a THIRTY-FIVE pts. per game average! Wouldn't this qualify as one of the best HS shooters we've recruited thru the years?

Re: Hope For The Future
Kraus averaged like 24 pts a game in hs, Erger averaged 26.7, Chauncey averaged 22 and Henderson averaged 27.7, Sealey averaged 19.7, Parker averaged 24.
Re: Hope For The Future
Yeah, for whatever reason Orr has REALLY struggled when scouting perimeter players/scorers. Kraus & Erger are the perfect examples. Those two could fill it up at the HS ranks, but something about their game (overall lack of athleticism?) just hasn't translated to the college game.Globetrotter wrote:Kraus averaged like 24 pts a game in hs, Erger averaged 26.7, Chauncey averaged 22 and Henderson averaged 27.7, Sealey averaged 19.7, Parker averaged 24.
It is really a shock to me simply because if you can hit a jumper from 20 feet in HS, you'd think you could do it in college. That hasn't been the case though as these guys haven't even been able to hit the open looks their given.
If Denny can bring his shooting prowess to BG it will be good enough. He doesn't need to be our leading scorer, he doesn't need to be able to dribble or pass. We just DESPERATELY need somebody that can stand on the perimeter and hit enough jumpers (40% would be nice) to make the defense think about him. That would open things up SO Much for this team...in a way we haven't seen since Moten graduated, and in actuality it was probably Reimold that last truly scared opposing defenses.
Re: Hope For The Future
I remember people raving about Erger's numbers....
Denny is going to be interesting. I don't put any stock in his HS numbers, the SWBL is not a good league. I don't think he played against anyone going anywhere higher than MAYBE a D3 school all year.
It is encouraging he plays his AAU for All-Ohio Red, the premier AAU program in the state. At this point I just have a hard time getting excited for freshman coming in. Has any recruit had an impact as a freshman? I just hope he sees the floor.

at 1:35 in the video, he steals the ball from James Young (Top 10 commit who will be playing for Kentucky next year) and runs by him for the layup. Nice!!bg1984 wrote:I'm by no means a great judge of talent, but here is a 2:00 min clip from what I assume is an AAU Tourney Zach was in last May.
