One things needs to be remembered around these parts, players and parents don't think the way we the fans do. You guys really think Clarke, Holmes, and Sealy are walking around campus thinking their talents are going to be wasted next year. No, those three are thinking they are going to turn things around next year.

Players and parents aren't thinking what we thinking, and aren't thinking whats being said around these parts. If they were there would be mass transfers, and there haven't been, and I doubt there will be.

I posted the "transfer" thing. Its purpose was to be a rhetorical expression of anger AND to point out that it may make sense for them as individuals to seek another program. Also, I was aware of the basic absurdity of an anonymous message board poster advising 3 kids he doesn't know to transfer. I'm genuinely floored that so many people have taken it so seriously.

All three of them have the potential to play professionally overseas. What happens with them over the next couple years will have a big effect on whether that happens.

'Cincy, you bring up a fun point though. Orr will not be able to play Crawford, Krauss, and Erger and will be forced to play better players. Due to that alone, he may fall into the pit of success next year.

On that note, what would need to happen next year for Orr to keep his job? I would think that anything short of winning the MAC East would be inadequate.
NCAA Bid. I couldn't care less about the MAC East. Only because he won it before and didn't deserve it.

NCAA Bid wouldn't even be enough for me. I'm not sure even a Final Four run would make me want him back the following year. I have a sample size of 6 seasons to know that he's inadequate as a coach. What he does next year in a "nothing to lose so better build my resume" season has no bearing whatsoever on my evaluation of him as a coach. Unless you're going to sign him to another 1 year contract, I suppose.

At this point I think we know that his laid back style is not going to build a consistent winner. His substitution patterns have been mind boggling, but I wouldn't be surprised if next year is a better season because of addition through subtraction. Still...I don't think there is anything that he could possibly do to make me believe he's the guy we should keep going forward. A national title would be awesome, but I'd still want to move on.

Thats why I made that point in my post. We've all noticed that Orr seems to prefer playing upperclassmen, and we all think that those players mentioned are much better then the ones who have been playing. Did I think that was your intent 100% in posting it because you throught those guys could win enough to save Coach Orr's job, no, but from the way this board is I could see people thinking that way, so I said what I said.

I want to say the only way he can save his job is making the NCAA tournament, but I also agree with what hammb said about him still leaving even if that did happen

Larranaga's last year was his resume builder. He had played out his contract and went out a winner. He was only a couple of games above .500 and, despite his big wins, he had bad league losses. Since Orr has nothing to lose and his upperclassmen next year are way better than this year's, he can go downhill, but not very likely. He almost HAS to do better.
A sweet 16 appearance should only get him a one-year extension, but it would be better for him to just simply move on.
