Akron dominated
Lose by nearly 50, I understand they had turmoil at the end of the season, but wow...pretty embarrassing for the MAC
Re: Akron dominated
True. But I'd rather get to the NCAA Tournament and get pounded by 46 points like Akron did than to be looking at a 46-year drought in the NCAA Tournament like BG is.BGfalcon2010 wrote:Lose by nearly 50, I understand they had turmoil at the end of the season, but wow...pretty embarrassing for the MAC

Otoh, Akron was doing a. LOT of big talk about winning not only this game, but advancing far in the tourn. Back it up with play on the floor!BGSU33 wrote:True. Akron was too slow to play with VCU Even if they were at full throttle, they would have had trouble People will just see they were beaten by 50 and not take into acct they were shorthanded Yes, making the MAC look poor, which is probably true - not a very strong basketball league a loosing battle up hill climb whatever you want to call it, the league basically is weak.

Re: Akron dominated
That was a trainwreck for the MAC. There were only 2 pretty good teams this year, Akron and Ohio. A depleted Akron smacked OU pretty good in the MACC.
That same Akron teams goes out and gets their doors blown off. Largest margin of victory outside of 1 or 2 seed in NCAA history. I know they had a flu bug. But, wow. That was bad.

This was true at the end of the game but not at the time of your posting. Montana now holds that dubious record.Falcon137 wrote: Largest margin of victory outside of 1 or 2 seed in NCAA history.
Re: Akron dominated
I wonder what John Groce would have done at OU this year. Most of his Sweet Sixteen cast was back. I picked his Ill team to beat Miami in the second round. It should be a fun tournament as should the WNIT.

Re: Akron dominated
All year, one of Akron's vulnerabilities was a lack of speed and quickness at the guard and wing positions. Nobody in the MAC was good enough to exploit that vulnerability.
OTOH, that VCU team looked incredible. After watching them last night, I wonder if anybody can beat them.

I think I saw that ou lost to Denver in the NIT...so the 2best teams in the Mac are gone in the top 2 tournaments!

Western and Kent won in the CBI and CIT, so at least it wasn't a total shutout for the MAC
