That's not fair to say. Back when I was in school at BGSU from 2005-2009, students showed up in bigger numbers for women's games than men's games most nights, and unlike a lot of the men's games where you had more casual student support, the people that came to the women's games really knew the program and the players and really wanted to be there. The student sections for some of the games during the Sweet 16 era were really loud and proud, even if we didn't fill up more than 1 section some nights.
Even when the Sweet 16ers like Achter, Mann, and Honneger left, we still supported Prochaska and Co. in similar numbers. If there has been a drop in student support for women's basketball it has likely occurred just within the past 2-3 years.

I'm only going to guess, but the Stroh Center has one tiny problem...where do the students get to sit? That and we have Lex, but Lo was a scoring machine. Remember when her free throw streak got broken? She almost missed and the whole arena gasped, then she missed the second one.
It would have been nice to open the Stroh center to general admission after the reserved seats have been sold; you get to sit anywhere you like, subject to ticket holders. As a season ticket holder, I'm going to stay about 10 feet from center court, but I'm not sure that I'd mind having people fill in the seats next to me.
The students have the whole section with the band and the one next to the band for overflow. There are plenty of places for students to sit. What we lack is plenty of students.
The reason to worry is the team needs and deserves the support the students would supply. And, if BG is in a similar position playing in the NIT in the future it is less likely they will be hosting any games. Home court advantage is a huge plus and it would be a shame to lost it due to lack of student support.
The people playing the game are students. I just don't get why it's so hard to come to something that's free. It's the best price. I know class & jobs but the fan base is townies, graduates , supporters and general basketball fans. I think it's 18 sports 1 team. There isn't general admission 'cause the Stroh's being run as a "professional arena" on a university campus.
I have my tickets will be there and will cheer til I lose my voice. Hope to see more than 1100 people. When we win we may need to go on the road 'cause someone else out "fanned" us or out "cashed" us. WNIT is a for profit tourney. Show up or show out you play at home. This has been fun to be at home plus we've travelled enough especially during a 10 day period.
Huh? That same "professional arena" security force also works in Toledo. What does it have to do with where the seats are ticketed? In fact, we could probably cut the force in half if we didn't have all seats assigned. But, be that as it may, it was just a suggestion in passing. My seat is reserved, my season tickets are bought, and I'll be in my usual seat for the next game. Now here's hoping my Mansfield trip on Thursday does not run over.....
I love my Women's Basketball and I will be there hooting, hollering, and yelling with the rest of the faithful (and maybe more so).
However, until we attend programs at Moore Musical Arts Center, at the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery, the Wolfe Center, or the Planetarium (to mention a few), let's don't be scratching our heads over why students don't come to sporting events. Your love of the game, my love of the game, and our love of the game is really not a good reason to wonder why other people don't attend, in my opinion. You don't understand why the students don't come to the games? Some of those students wonder why so few people show up at their programs.
For now, I'm hoping to see a game as exciting as the one last Saturday. I'm also really hoping for the win.

So are you telling me that not everyone who shows up Thursday night for the women's basketball game is going to show up at 1:00 PM for the softball doubleheader against Ball State? What about Saturday at 2 PM and Sunday at 1 PM as the team takes on Miami? Well.....that's just not right.

It isn't right, everyone should be at those Friday softball games to heckle Ball State's jerk of a head coach
