That's the case for full membership. With 6 teams and 32 games allowed to be played, that leaves roughly 12 non-conference games. The majority of schools will only have 4-6 non-conference games available to them, depending on the Alaska exemptions. Scheduling that many non-conference games will turn into a nightmare once they realize there is nobody available to fill their schedules. Expanding to 8 teams would ease their scheduling.
