Can you imagine how low our shooting percentage will be if we are forced to take more shots???

Seems to me,all they have to do to increase scoring, is to NOT allow the "hands on" defense, and call the game the way is used to be called 10-20 years ago. All of the clutching and grabbing has made the game almost unwatchable at times.

Our only hope is a smaller ball, a wider rim and a shorter basket.

Hang on guys....Louis Orr is "unconvinced" that 5 fewer seconds per possession will make a difference.... and we all know how well we used the 35 sec. currently allotted! ](/img/ayziggyzoomba/58/58/54314911ff35ed959956620e68458f73.gif)

Five more seconds to stand around looking confused before throwing up a brick. Florida Gulf Coast took the college basketball world by storm and our offensive philosophy is exactly the opposite.
On a more hopeful note, I really like what I read about Zach Denny. Part of shooting better is recruiting better shooters and this kid seems like a marksman. We know he'll have more athletic defenders closing out faster, but he played on a top AAU team against the best competition so that might help with the adjustment.

I've never understood why the college shot clock was 35 seconds, hell even the women have a shorter one at 30.

Re: Potential rules changes to increase scoring
I happen to agree with Orr on this. The focus on the shot clock is completely misguided and naive. Basketball has become a sport of mayhem. Defenders in basketball are extremely physical compared to how they were 20 years ago. It's gotten stupid.
A shorter clock will just result in more possessions ending with a crappy shot. A 15 second shot clock wouldn't do squat for scoring, let alone a 30 second clock.
However, this is not to say that I do not LOVE UF-Gulf Coast's style.

Orr won't/doesn't have an opinion on the rule. He'll trust in God. If God wants college basketball to have a 30-second clock, then it will happen.Class of 61 wrote:Hang on guys....Louis Orr is "unconvinced" that 5 fewer seconds per possession will make a difference.... and we all know how well we used the 35 sec. currently allotted!

To God be the Shot Clock.

It used to be free fries at 85. Since Orr was hired, it's free fries for a year at 85.
