I hate Miami, but I loved when Charlie would come to Anderson. He was too much fun to watch...playing with the student section and being animated. College basketball and the world lost a true character and coach.

Agreed. I hate Miami, and hated Coles because he coached Miami and gave us some good beatings. But I respected Cole's because of the coach he was. The game lost a great ambassador today.

BTW, anyone see Dakich's response on Twitter to the news? Hilarious, and classic Dakich!

I got to know Charlie a little bit working at the MAC tournament in Cleveland. I told him I remembered him coaching a player named Melvin McLaughlin at Central Michigan during my student days at BG. All he said with a big smile was, "Sugar!"

Still remember him coming over to me at courtside in 1997 after Pino hit the buzzer beater against Akron at the MAC Tourney as the referees reviewed the play...asking me "Did we win?"

His press conferences were aleways the best! RIP Charlie!
