Most of us will probably be shocked if this team is able to make the top 8 in the league to host that game, granted after the top few spots this conference is a trainwreck

They will find a way to finish top 8. It's Louis Orr basketball. Never good enough to matter, never as bad as Northern Illinois, Central and the rest of the bottom feeders. BG is now at the point where beating Wright St. at home is a signature win for a season. Thankfully, Greg Fundraiser is out of a town. Lou would be a "Mayan" division title in Puerto Rico away from another 5 years of nothing with him around.

Orr just sucks. Worst D1 coach in college basketball. And to me, a complete embarrassment to the program.

Most people with jobs probably won't empathize with the hardship of a summer vacation off from covering sports for a living. The latest basketball release ("Around the Hoop") indicates that a message may have been received. The real message should come in about 9 months.

Absolutely. We can only hope that the legacy of this staff isn't to permanently redefine the expectations people have for this program. The mindset needs to be centered on winning championships. Facilities have gone from a hinderance to an asset and there is simply no reason why this program should have to settle for its present status as the MAC demarcation point between the consistently good and the god-awful.

We were strung along with Christopher's "directional" nonsense when a cursory overview of either the program itself or Louis Orr's history as a head coach would confirm such projections as BS. IF ONLY this team was ever on the right track directionally. IF ONLY there was a light at the end of our tunnel of permanent submediocrity. This mess is Orr's doing but Christopher gave him the keys.

Grambling State fans disagree (they went winless last season, 0-28)

Do you know how managers get a raise sometimes for cutting the company budget. Do you think Orr gets a little more cash for not using 2 scholarships?

Has anyone in the media commented on how ridiculous this is? And what a farce this season will be. Don't they pay people to cover this sport?

I assumed that if it didn't deal with Ohio State and Michigan then the local media didn't care. They have much bigger things to worry about, like Muschamp taking shots at Urbie

Orr has put the media that does cover his team to sleep as well. Just swap names based on the current roster and he has says the same thing over and over. We are just a few short months away from the annual riveting more man to man defense talk. Remember folks, it's a marathon of nothing with Lou, not a sprint.

Dont even need to swap names at this point.

These words should be banned:

potential
opportunity
athleticism

They have lost all meaning and credibility. We'll get Coach Snorr and the same sloppy, unimaginative product now in its inexplicable seventh iteration.

I can see why a lot of people would think this, but I would respectfully disagree. The SID doesn't just get to work the sports he or she enjoys. There are many sports (18, obviously, at BG these days), and many, many nights and weekends away from the family. It's not just showing up at tipoff, sitting courtside and leaving. It might be working a 10-12 hour day that involves sitting in the rain or cold at a soccer doubleheader. Don't get me wrong, it can be a very fun job at times. But, I'm happier working a 9-to-5 (or close to it) job, getting to see my family, and going to the games I choose to attend (rather than being required to attend). Like I said before, I don't know Jason Knavel personally. But, I have known a number of the BGSU SIDs through the years, and those guys have done a tremendous job under the circumstances.

Yes! You could honestly record his first press conference after a loss and simply play it back on a loop for each subsequent defeat for the rest of the year. It's the same mantras, the same cliches, the same excuses and the same promises. (I forgot the infamous "It's a marathon and not a sprint" he invokes to rationalize losses as well.)

No motivational ability, no improvement, consistently poor results and the only people on planet earth who don't recognize it just happen to be those in a position to do something about it.

I'm pretty much getting tired of all of the pissing and moaning over here. Get over it. He'll be here one more year and there is nothing that anyone can do about it. This is a public forum and he has family here. I'm sure that they enjoy reading and/or hearing about your constant, childish, complaints over the current state of the program. Seriously, how many times do you need to say the same thing to get your points across?
